William Henry Sigsworth

William Henry Sigsworth, child of William Henry Sigsworth and Mary Scott, was born July 17, 1841 in Storrington, Frontenac District, Ontario Canada and he died Jan. 12, 1906, in Richardson, Polk Co., Wisconsin (of heart disease). He was buried at Clear Lake, Polk Co., Wisconsin. According to the Sigsworth Family Bible William married first to Sally Whaley, on Nov. 09, 1859, at Sydenham, Frontenac District, Ontario Canada. He married second to Phoebe Jane Whaley on March 11, 1862, at the Primitive Methodist Church in Sydenham. Witness to the marriage were James Sigsworth (brother to William) and Eliza Whaley (sister to Phoebe Jane). Phoebe was the d/o Nathan Whaley and Ann Jackson, having been born March 6, 1843, in Loughborough, Frontenac District, Ontario Canada. She died in Lowell, Snohomish Co., Washington on April 15, 1924, and was laid to rest in Evergreen Cemetery, Everett, Snohomish Co., Washington. Children born of this union were:

1-William J. Sigsworth, born 1862 in Frontenac District, Ontario Canada, died before 1878.

2-Martin Sanford Sigsworth, born Feb. 28, 1865, in Frontenac District, Ontario Canada, died Sept. 15, 1952, at Amery, Polk Co., Wisconsin. Martin married first to Hannah Salome McPherson on Dec. 25, 1886, in Loughborough, d/o Alexander and Harriet McPherson. Hannah was born in Portland Twp., Frontenac District, Ontario Canada in 1865, and she died in the USA some time before the 1900 Federal Census. Martin married second on Feb. 28, 1900, at Clear Lake, Polk Co., Wisconsin to Christine E. Johnson (she born Jan. 13, 1883, at Frontenac, Goodhue Co., Minnesota, died at Amery on June 2, 1964. 3-Nathan B. Sigsworth, born May 1867 in Loughborough, Frontenac District, Ontario Canada, died Nov. 1944 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Nathan appears in the 1881 Ontario Census, Loughborough, Addington, Ontario, Family HistoryLibrary Film 1375872, NA Film Number C-13236, District 118, Sub-districtA, Page Number 79, Household Number 398. It is reported in one information source (which I did not diligently record) that Nathan was living at Grand Prairie, McKenzie District, Alberta, at time of death.

4-Rosanne Sigsworth, born Mar. 19, 1869, at Loughborough, Frontenac District, Ontario Canada. Rosanne married William Lewis abt. 1885 in Wisconsin, and both she and her husband died Everett, Snohomish Co., Washington, some time after 1930. They are buried in Evergreen Cemetery in Everett.  5-Esse Madeline Sigsworth, born April 1871 at Loughborough, Frontenac District, Ontario Canada, died Oct. 26, 1947, at Everett, Snohomish Co., Washington. She married in Wisconsin to Herman E. Giesdorf some time before October 1896, where their known child George was born on October 19, 1896. Esse died on Oct. 26, 1947, at Everett, Snohomish Co., Washington. 6-John William Sigsworth, born April 02, 1872, at Loughborough, Frontenac District, Ontario Canada, died Feb. 21, 1944, at Tacoma, Pierce Co., Washington, where he died on Feb. 21, 1944. John married Amelia J. Stevens at Richardson, Polk Co., Wisconsin about 1900 (she born June 7, 1880, in Bavaria, died June 11, 1922, at Everett, Snohomish Co., Washington). 7-Francis A. Sigsworth, born 1875 in Loughborough, Frontenac District, Ontario Canada. He appears in the 1881 Ontario Census, Loughborough, Addington, Ontario, Family HistoryLibrary Film 1375872, NA Film Number C-13236, District 118, Sub-districtA, Page Number 79, Household Number 398. I have a notation that Francis was a deaf/mute. 

8-Robert Leroy Sigsworth, born 1877, in Loughborough, Frontenac District, Ontario Canada, died Oct. 14, 1953, in Oregon. Robert married Helen A. Jones with whom he had two known children, Margaret (married ? Sullivan), and Marie (married ? Little). Information from Sharon Lawyer Bishop at Pansyprint@aol.com, who is researching the Sigsworth and Clough lines, said that Robert "changed his name to Sherwood because he bought a set of encyclopedias and didn't want to pay for them." According to another of his descendants, Delores Marquand of Amery, Wisconsin, Robert was also known as "Roy Sherwood Sigsworth."

9-William J. Sigsworth, born Sept. 5, 1878, in Kingston, Frontenac District, Ontario Canada, married abt. 1895 to Annie Graham (she born abt. 1880 Wisconsin). They had one known child, Earl H. Sigsworth, born 1904. In 1920 William was living at Lowell 2-WD, Snohomish Co., Washington, Genealogy.com Roll 1939 Book 1, Page 244b, Household #59, with his sister Esse and her husband Herman Giesdorf. Annie and Earl were then living at Lowell 2-WD, Snohomish Co., Washington, Genealogy.com Roll 1939 Book 1, Page 246a, Household #12. The reason for separate households in unclear.

10-Archibald Atwood Solomon Sigsworth, born Dec. 1879 in Loughborough, Frontenac District, Ontario Canada, died Dec. 1940 in Callam Co., Washington. He married Jessie Viola Clough, d/o James Clough and Anna Eliza Page, who was born July 14, 1896, in South Dakota and died Dec. 8, 1935, at Tumwater, Thurston Co., Washington. She is buried in the Masonic Memorial Park, Tumwater. The couple wed abt. 1914 in Wisconsin (likely Clear Lake, Polk Co.), and they had two known children, Flossie, born 1915 Washington (married ? Ellington), and Edward, born 1918 Washington.

11-Amelia Emma Sigsworth, born Clear Lake, Polk Co., Wisconsin, died at Minneapolis, Hennepin Co., Minnesota. She married Larson Johnson.

12-Lewis Jackson Sigsworth, born July 14, 1885, at Clear Lake, Polk Co., Wisconsin, died Jan. 18, 1952, at Lowell, Snohomish Co., Washington, buried Evergreen Cemetery. Lewis married Dec. 26, 1911, at Lowell to Dora Pearl Clough, d/o James Clough and Anna Eliza Page. Dora was born Sept. 20, 1889, at Pierre, Huges Co., South Dakota and died Nov. 2, 1967, at Lowell.
