So, you are wondering who
the Kat Gal is and what she's like, right?
Well, I'll try not to disappoint you.
Let's see now, where can I begin? I guess the best place to start
is to give you a little background on me.
Age:

Gender: Kinda obvious, right? I'm all woman!
Height: Your guess is as good as mine.
Weight: Sorry, woman's secret.
Nationality: Vietnamese (or Vietnamese-American)
Occupation: Financial Analyst
Well, that isn't much info
is it? Let's expand on that. I was born in Vietnam in the year of
the Rat (that must mean I'm in my mid-twenties and getting
senile! Hee! Hee!) My family and I escaped from our homeland and
immigrated to the U.S. 20 years ago. Wow! Has it been that long?
You must wonder then whether I still remember my culture and
language. The answer is a vague yes. I know how to speak, read,
and write and do remember the Vietnamese tradition and culture
thanks to my mommy. I'm the oldest and of course the
most responsible of three children.
After graduating from San Jose State University in 1995 with an accounting degree,
I went to work for Lockheed Martin Missiles & Space, one of the premier companies in
the Aerospace and Defense industry.
Ok, now you know my roots. Let's go to more interesting topics....like my interests, hobbies, and goals.
Interests:
1)
Reading novels from such
authors as V.C. Andrews, Michael Crichton, and John Gisham
2)
Hanging out
with friends
3)
Listening to music
4)
Watching movies
5)
Bowling (when I have a
chance)
6)
Watching football
games (huh? now that isn't a very girly thing to do.....but, hey,
I'm a woman of the nineties...for those guys that think they know
everything about football, think again. I love to watch the games
and probably know a lot of stats. Go niners!
I also enjoy watching other sporting
events such as ice skating, gymnastics, tennis and bowling.
7)
Attending
theater art events. I really enjoy theater art productions like Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserable, Miss Saigon, Cats,
and the King and I. I finally had a chance to see Phantom of the
Opera and am looking forward to seeing the others.
Hobbies:
1)
Taking Tae Kwon Do. I'm
currently an advanced red belt at Ernie Reyes West Coast TKD.
Check out my martial arts page to learn more about this form
of martial arts.
2)
Drawing/Sketching. I'm still an amateur,
so don't expect to see a Picasso or Monet. Actually, I haven't
drawn anything in quite awhile, so I don't even know if I
remember how. But I'd like to get back into drawing when I have a
chance. So, for now, if you're playing pictionary, don't pick me
to be on your team unless you can make out stick figures! :P
3)
Designing this web page. I guess
designing my homepage is now my new hobby. I'm a novice as you
can tell, so I'd really appreciate any help from you pros out
there.
4)
Volunteering in community service
activities. I don't know if this really fit in the hobbies
category, but I like to volunteer in activities such as the Jack
Emery canned food drive, the Second Harvest Food Bank, and one of
these days, when I find the time, I'd like to join Junior
Achievement and volunteer to teach kids about the business
environment. Someone's got to teach those kids out there the
tricks in this cat eats dog business world! :-)
Goals:
There are some interests that I'd eventually like to continue or pursue when time permits. Some of them don't really fit in the goals category, but to me, they are some of the goals in my life.
1) Sporting activities: badminton, roller blading, tennis, mountain biking, water skiing, skiing, ice skating, and archery.
2)
Traveling: France, Japan, Singapore,
Hawaii, and The Carribean Islands. I'd really like to travel to
these places one day, especially France. My french really need a
touch-up or actually a whole make-over!
3)
Masters in Business Administration: I
think this is the most important goal at this point in my life.
I'm seriously considering going back to school to obtain an MBA.
The job market is just so competitive out there that a second
degree is almost a must now. I think an MBA with a concentration
in Information Systems would allow me to enhance my computer
skills and knowledge as well as make me more marketable.
To many people, I'm just a
face in the crowd.
But to my friends
and family, I'm one hell of a gal. I guess it's because of my
attitude towards people. I'm always open to new ideas and meeting
new friends. I love to make people laugh and love to talk to
others. But I also know when to shut the trap and listen. My
personal quote has always been, "If you think you can, you
can!". It's pretty self explanatory...if you think you can
accomplish your goals and you put 110% effort in trying to do so,
then you can accomplish anything. Well, that's all the Kat Gal
can say about her life at this point. You can wake up now,
and go to my other more interesting
pages. Bye for now.
