Look Good.....Feel Better

"In my fight against cancer, everything counts -
mind and body, appearance and self-confidence."

A supportive, informative, enjoyable first step toward renewed self-esteen, self-confidence, and emotional recovery for women cancer patients undergoing radiation and/or chemotherapy.

Look Good.....Feel Better is a free, national public service program to help women undergoing cancer teratment learn to cope with the appearance-related side effects of treatment and regain a sense of self-confidence and control in their lives. These side effects may include hair loss and changes in complexion and fingernails, and are often emotionally and psychologically traumatizing.

Look Good.....Feel Better is primarily offered in group sessions which provide education, information and support. These sessions are generally offered at hospitals, comprehensive cancer centers, American Cancer Society offices and other community settings. One-to-one consultations may also be offered by participating salons. In Look Good.....Feel Better sessions, volunteer cosmetologists (all certified professionals) teach women how to enhance their appearance using make-up techniques. Each woman learns to perform her own make-over using complimentary cosmetics and skin care products donated by the cosmetic industry for use during the program and later at home.

Patients also learn how to disguise hair loss using wigs, turbans, scarves, and various accessories. Look Good.....Feel Better is product-neutral (no specific product brand or manufacturer is recommended or endorsed) and makes no medical claims. Sessions and materials are provided at no charge.
