3rd February, 1999. Le Zenith, Paris, France
So, this gig was really cool. With a few fans we were waiting for the
band at the backstage entry between 3.15 pm and 4 pm. First we saw Andrea
coming into the Zenith in a big black Mercedes. Then, 10 minutes after it
was Jim, in a grey Mercedes. He was phoning with a cellular. 10 minutes
later came Sharon and Caroline in a Safrane (a luxious French car). A guy
who was there shouted: "I love you !", and Sharon laughed and smiled. It was
very cool and funny.
Then we came back at the entrance of the Zenith for wait the opening of
the doors. There I saw the team of the French website Closer To The Corrs
and, I suppose, Helen, Richard and Renate. I also met Mikko and some friends
from the net.
We entered the Zenith at 6.45 pm. There we waited an hour for Babel Fish,
who was cool. After Babel Fish we waited 45 minutes while the technicians
were installing and checking the scene for The Corrs.
Finally our favourite band came on stage at 9 pm. I was just in front of
Sharon. After the first song, the band realized how we were happy to see
them. We sung along, jumped and moved our arms during all the concert. There
was a few lighters during Runaway.
The big video screen was well used: shots of the members, pieces of video
clips (WCID, OWIS), a clock during TRT, images from old movies in black &
white for QOH, the dancing baby for SY. Helen and her mates threw planes
made of papers during SY, feathers during TTF, and used a lot of "placards"
during all the gig.
It was really nice to hear some French sentences, especially from Jim,
before his solo: "Maintenant c'est mon tour. Je vais vous jouer un morceau
de musique irlandaise. Parfois je joue bien, parfois je joue mal." (Now it's
my turn. I will play you a bit of Irish music [at this moment everyone
shouted]. Sometimes I play right sometimes I play wrong). Then he asked us
if we spoke English. We answer buy a big affirmation shout, and he continued
with is usual expanations and ask us to turn from the scene "Tournez-vous",
and we laughed. We also had a lot of "Merci beaucoup" from the girls.
I noticed that during a moment they were not playing, Caroline and Keith
Duffy chated together. Andrea moved her bottom a lot during the gig. I think
all the guys like that. Jim's solo was great. During No Frontiers (wonderful
song), a lot of people shouted when Caroline started to sing for the first
time. The piano for Runaway was fantastic.
The playlist
was as usual:
1. WHEN HE'S NOT AROUND
2. NO GOOD FOR ME
3. THE RIGHT TIME
4. JOY OF LIFE
5. FORGIVEN NOT FORGOTTEN
6. WHAT CAN I DO
7. HOPELESSLY ADDICTED
8. JIM'S SUPRISE
9. NO FRONTIERS
10. RUNAWAY
11. HASTE TO THE WEDDING
12. SECRET LIFE
13. ONLY WHEN I SLEEP
14. QUEEN OF HOLLYWOOD
15. DREAMS
16. I NEVER LOVED YOU ANYWAY
Encore:
17. SO YOUNG
18. TOSS THE FEATHERS
A real nice concert ! Now I am sure of one thing: THE CORRS are surely my
favourite band!!! The gig finished at 10.30 pm. Now I can say that the girls
are as pretty as on TV or photographs :o) I have also a wall full of
beautiful posters in my room :o)
