Vows of Doug's and Julie's Weddings

Doug's and Julie's Wedding Vows

May 22, 1981

Trish Banning (Julie's and Doug's daughter in law) sang "The Rose". As the wedding service finally began (after Doug locked his ex-wife, Lee, in his apartment), Doug sang "Till There Was You" as Julie walked down the aisle to her future.

Doug began: That I am I and you are you, would seem indubitably true, Yet lacking you, I am not I, and without me can you deny there is something you would fain supply? And now the reality...how fully you and I are we.

Julie: If ever two were one, then surely we;
If ever man were loved by wife, then thee;
If ever wife were happy in a man, compare with me women...if you can.
I prize thy love..more than whole mines of gold, or all the riches that the world could hold.

Mickey: What it is to love, it is to be made of sighs and tears;
It is to be all made of faith and service, it is to be all made of fantasy, all made of passion;
all made of wishes, all adoration, duty and observance,
all humbleness, patience and impatience, all trials, all obeisance.

Doug: Oh, my love is like a red, red rose, that's newly sprung in June.

Julie: My love is like the melody, sweetly played in tune.

Doug: As fair art thou, my bonnie lass, so deep in love am I.

Julie: And I will love thee still, my dear, till all the seas gang dry.

Doug: Till all the seas gang dry, my dear, and the rocks melt with the sun.

Julie: And I will love thee still, my dear, though the sands of life shall run.

Doug: And fair thee well, my only love, and fair thee well awhile.

Julie: And I will come again, my love, though it were ten thousand miles.
