I discovered this book in the swap box in the girls bathroom of my college dorm. It was the first time I'd heard of Linda Howard, and I didn't really think I was going to like her, but hey, it was free, so I took it. And I've been a loyal fan ever since.

Marlie Keen is a far cry from ordinary, but she's convinced that she is on the path to a normal life. So, she doesn't have any friends, doesn't go out much, and has a mind-numbing job. So she can't stand to watch a love scene in a movie, let alone have a sex life of her own. At least she is free of the nightmarish clairvoyance that has made her life a living hell for as long as she can remember.

And then one night she is drawn into the terrifying thoughts and twisted emotions of a madman, and all of her newfound peace is taken from her.

Tough, jaded cop Dane Hollister doesn't believe Marlie's crazy story for a minute. Maybe she's a murderer, and maybe she's just a charlatan, but whatever she is, Dane wants her with an irrational, unreasonable desire.

On the trail of a serial killer is no place to fall in love, but these two manage it beautifully, with overwhelming sensuality and exquisite tenderness.
