Mattie wasn't having such a bad day. So, she'd found a pair of crotchless panties under the front seat of her husband's car, and then the microwave quit working. To top it all off, her kid was being as good as gold, which was always cause for suspicion. But things were okay. Really. Until the man she'd given her virginity to so many years ago came knocking on her door.

Everyone in Frog Point always knows what everyone else is up to, and Mattie has always been so careful not to cause a scandal. But scandal - on a grand scale - is heading right for Frog Point's little miss perfect.

In this wickedly funny book, Jennifer Crusie teaches us the virtue of selfishness.

I can't tell you much more about this tender, odd, slightly wacky novel without giving too much away. Even though it's a murder mystery, I didn't have the heart to put it on my suspense page. It just wasn't suspenseful. It did keep me guessing all the way to the end, but it didn't scare me - or even worry me - a bit. I knew from the very beginning that Mattie and her hero were going to get the happiness they deserved, and that everyone else would get their just deserts.

This book made me laugh harder than anything I've read in a long time.
