"Sinbad, what have you done?" asked Doubar, rushing over to where Maeve stood. Firouz was already at her side.

"Rongar, get some water, quick!" shouted Firouz. "Doubar, help me get her comfortable. Careful now," he added as the two men laid her on the back.

Stunned, Sinbad got up. He watched in disbelief as his friends took care of Maeve. "This can't be happening," he thought. Realizing he was still holding his sword, he dropped it as if it was burning his hand. Slowly, he stepped back, holding his head in his hands.

The Moor got back from the river near by. He gave the water to the physician.

"Maeve, do you feel any pain?" asked Firouz.

Still in shock, the young woman could only shake her head.

"Okay," replied Firouz. "I'll take a look." To Maeve he said, "This might hurt."

"Come on Rongar, let's give them a little privacy," said Doubar. The two of them approached Sinbad, who was still watching Firouz treat Maeve, as he held his head in his hands. Doubar touched his brother's shoulder to get his attention.

"Sinbad", he said softly, "how could this have happened? I was watching the two of you. I even tried to wake you both up. You never took your sword out."

Sinbad didn't answered. All he could think was that he was responsible for what happened to Maeve, the one woman he would never, never hurt.

"Rongar, come here!" yelled Firouz.

Rongar went to Firouz at once. Sinbad wanted to follow him but Doubar stopped him. "Trust our friend, little brother. If any of us can help Maeve right now, it's Firouz." Sinbad nodded. But when he saw Firouz rise slowly, shaking his head, his heart skipped a beat. "No..."

As Firouz came to them, Rongar helped Maeve to her feet. Sinbad sighed in relief. Supporting the sorceress, Rongar led her to the river.

"Firouz?" asked Doubar with concern.

"I... I can't explain it. Altough there was a lot of blood, I couldn't find any wound at all," answered Firouz.
