"JEEEZUS CHRIST! She just asked me if I have any panties on! No, I don't. I wear boxer shorts!" grins Lit singer A.Jay Popoff, shrugging off the attention of some persistent females fans in the front row.

A collision of greased-back '50s Yank culture and muscular '90s pop-punk, Lit are back in Detroit three weeks after supporting silverchair at this same venue. Hence, tonight they receive a heroes' welcome, the crowd going as far as to deliver shots of Jagermeister to the stage cue.

Despite the odd technical glitch, Lit's set is an infectious affair anchored around their second album, 'A Place In The Sun.' Good times beckon, not least due to the success of current US single 'My Own Worst Enemy.'

While Lit are making their bid to move from support act to headliners, Eve6 have already done that. And tonight the boyish trio of bass-wielding ring-master Max Collins, guitarist Jon Siebels and drummer Tony Fagenson prove just how much they've grown since their last UK show at London's Club Kerrang! four months ago.

The beaming Collins is the band's focal point, craning his neck in a mock act of listening as Eve6 burst into a storming version of 'Open Road Song.' 'Tongue Tied' sees one over-enthusiastic fan going as far as to lob his shoe stagewards.

Love-torn newie 'Promise' is greeted by the inappropriate sight of a burly bloke diving off the balcony onto the PA and eventually into the crowd.

Mid-set acoustic break contains versions of 'There's A Face' and The DiVinyls' 'I Touch Myself' (a cover only superceded by a show-closing version of John Denver's 'Leaving On A Jet Plane,' Collins resplendent in a bright pink wig.)

Re-electrified, Eve6 deliver the teen-spirited blast of 'How Much Longer,' the floor-shaking 'Superhero Girl,' and the defiant 'Small Town Trap' and their first US hit 'Inside Out' (featuring an impromptu shout-along courtesy of a fan) in manner that underlines their ability to write arena-sized tunes without losing the self-deprecating, ironic edge that makes them so darn special. Miss them when they hit the UK later this month at your peril.
