Iguanas have a pretty good defense, they use they're tail as their main defense they like to whip people with it , they can bite pretty hard and if they're big enough they can break fingers.

 5:

An iguana should look like its fat. That's a sign of healthy eating habits, there should not be any heavy black spots on the scales, if you see them and they really don't look right
consult your veterinarian

 6:

But there's one thing iguana really hate more then anything and do you know what that is? They HATE being grabbed by the tail. So if you ever decide to grab or pick one up by the tail, It and all other iguana's will detach their tail. On the bright side it will grow back with time.

Iguana Taming
Its easiest to tame a small young iguana because they can't do much to defend itself when you come to pick them up. To an iguana you appear as something that wants to eat it, so there natural defense kicks in and what to they do? They squirm, wiggle, whip, bite and claw. This can be a real pain in the butt so you just have to bare with it and be patient. To make thing easier you can take them in to your friendly local lizard selling pet store and get their claws clip. To start taming you want to be sure to show no threat to the iguana. Slowly pick it up, if it run then just grab it, not to hard or fast but enough to get it. It will probably squirm wiggle and lash its tail around. Just put it in your palm and kind of hold its arms down with your thumb and your index finger. Pet him on his side or the top of his head, it may open it's mouth as a threat to bite, but don't worry just keep your fingers from in front, or directly on the side of his mouth. Besides small iguanas don't hurt. keep doing this every day each time ease up on it. With time a patience you will have an iguana fit for a, uh, pet.

 Iguana Pens
Iguana pens are neat, they allow easy interaction with you iguana and are a nice alternative to a cage. An iguana pen is like a cage with no sides. It doesn't need to be anything fancy, you can just make one out of wood. An iguana pen should be a platform placed up off the floor, but not too high that you can't easily interact with your iguana. It should have a branch or something placed diagonal in the pen. A light or heating pad should be placed appropriately so the iguana can stay warm. Have a food and water bowl in the iguana's preferred spot. The iguana pen should be placed by a window. If make correctly your iguana will enjoy it more then its' cage.

 Iguana leashes
Iguana leashes are somewhat controversial, I personally am going to try one, but some say that they are bad. Some are. It depends on how they're made. One Thing I can say is don't try to put a leash on an untamed iguana, they will bite and they really hate it.
