When we practice our craft today. Many times we learn by using the work of Others. The next several lessons will be on creating material for yourself to use. One of the beauties of our art is that it is a personal religion. That is tailored to suit the individual in many aspects. Because of this as we continue to grow and learn in the craft, there comes a time when it is more appropriate. That we start writing out own material. Showing and expressing out faith in our own personal way
Enough of me lets get to work.
Affirmations are short sentences that are repeated to ourselves every day for a period of time to enhance our perception of ourselves in a positive and beneficial way.
Examples are:
I have the ability to succeed in all I do. I am a child of the Goddess Magick is inherent in my life I am a good and honest person.
When writing affirmations for your self. You are writing statements to encourage a positive traits or talent you already have in order to be more secure in using it. Or you write them to change a negative aspect about yourself into a positive on. Affirmations are used to affirm your beliefs and the way you feel , to help enhance your self esteem.
We will use Sue as an example:
Sue has been practicing the craft for a while in private, and has been having a hard time because she’s been working alone. She want to affirm her beliefs in the Gods and Goddesses, that magick is real. In her real life she is feeling stagnate in he Job and is having doubt about the type of employee she is. She is a pretty woman but feels herself plain. These are some affirmations she could write for herself to help herself.
I believe in the Gods and Goddesses The Gods are real The Goddess works in my life, nurturing me through the hard times. The Gods do for me what I can not do for myself.
I am a good employee, I will show that in my actions and manner in the workplace I am a dependable employee I am successful in my Job
I am pretty The goddess blesses all including me with Beauty
Take the time to look at the areas in your life that you need to affirm with positive statements. And write some affirmations for yourself. Share them with me if you would like.
Meditations are a bit more difficult to write. Meditation incorporate the use of symbolism and intent in order to Occupy our conscious mind so our subconscious one can go to work. Visit the Medtation Brook To see some meditations and then come back to this lesson.
The following are the steps to writing a meditation
1. decide what th meditation is for. 2. choose the symbolism you want to use. I.e. a glade, cave, river…. 3. Diced were to start i.e.,.. dose it start as a path from your spiritual place or with a visualization of a location 4. Intro. Can be to start with another meditation and work from their. Like the meditations for the craft do. Or with breathing and visualization as the mediation for Life do. 5. the Body. The mental actions directed to take in the meditation i.e. watching and looking. 6. The pause time. This is the time the conscious mind is active with the imagery and the Subconscious goes to work.. the time period is usually at least 5 min and can last a few more minutes to hours depending on what the meditation is for 7. the return. Directions to bring the mediator back to the place of entry if they had to go anywhere in the meditation. 8. the End bringing the mediator out of the meditation ad affirming that what they have seen they will remember
