"Ekaterina" by Lenora McCoy

Brave

oh so very brave!

such hardship
she has faced

Her lover
gone

All alone
no one to hold her

No one to skate with

She skates all alone

so hard

no one to throw her into the jumps

No one to lift her high into the air
she falls
falls
falls
falls

No Seriozha, whose eyes she looked into

Katoosha & Daria all alone

her friends
travel very far
to comfort her
at Sergei's funeral

They light candles
say prayers in Russian
and mourn the loss
of their friend
her lover

A year gone by
she tries again
to skate
alone now

With her friends
they skate
for Sergei

"I want you to know I skated tonight not alone. I
skated with Sergei. That's why it was so good."

All her love
for him
is reflected
by her fans
who care so much

They love her, Ekaterina Gordeeva
and mourn her loss -- her husband, and partner, Sergei Grinkov
