My friends and I, at the ice skating rink,
It feels quite good on a hot day like this,
"Let's go get some food or something to drink."
Together the good times we've had, I think
Are among the best when I reminisce.
And yet now these times are nearing the brink.
Best friends off to college, and then I sink
Down in deep thought, about friends I will miss.
Wondering, wishing we can keep the link.
Or if they will be gone in just a blink,
Were we in our contacts a bit remiss,
When we found our time with each other shrink?
We all move forward, dabble with life's ink,
Find our potential, but lose youthful bliss.
A cold future waits when we lose our link.
And so now this time I place emphasis
On remembering those that I will miss,
My friends of whom I will forever think,
With whom I skate onto that icy rink.
