This story picks up where her best-selling novel,Legend, ended. Kathryn de Longe and her son, Jeremy are running from Jeremy's father. Jeremy was not conceived out of love and his father has threatened to take him away. Kathryn has accepted a position as governess for Cole Jordan's out of control son, Zachary Jordan.

Kathryn and Cole Jordan meet in an unusual manner and it sets things off in motion. But, then Cole believe Kathryn deceived him to get the job and won't honor her the contract. Well, Kathryn is made of tougher material than that. She finds herself a lawyer and before long, Cole ends up in court defending himself against the whole town, who just happen to really like Kathryn. But if she wins, will she lose her heart?
