Okay, I'll come straight out and say it - I'm not really that good at all this programming stuff, I can program in HTML until someone starts shouting "where's yer frames?" Then I have to admit that they scare me to death! But then I think 'hey, who needs frames anyway!'

Trouble is though, some of us amateurs actually want to be able to design web pages with frames - I personally don't like the way they look anyway, but that's just me. Anyway, the point is, people want to learn, and guess what - it's not hard to find places to get taught! So I thought, what about this Java stuff as well? And then I thought, I'm always looking for new graphics and animation - so it probably figures that other people look for these things as well, et voila this page was born!

MORE WILL BE ADDED SOON!

The Groan-Zone

This just proves us girls CAN do anything! This is one of the best sites I've come across so far. Plenty of ready-made graphics (for the price of a link!) and she also has some great graphical menus that can be customised, and for a reasonable price you can have menus made to order! Also, there are some interesting background tiles, borders, buttons and sets of buttons etc. Another part of the site has some good Java and Javascript stuff (some of which may pop up here in the not too distant future!) and also some great freeware, including "HTMLer" which makes frames a helluva lot easier to set up - although you do have to have a fairly good handle on HTML first tho' but I think it's really handy. Overall I really like this site and I'm definitely going back for more!

SSAnimation.com

This is quite a good site, plenty of animated gifs available, they are pretty good, except they do take a bit to load. Not recommended for the impatient, but good nonetheless! Also on this site - a chat room, and contest to enter.

Laurie McCanna's Free Graphics

I liked this site, it's simple and easy to navigate and the random tip generator is definitely worth a spin if you use Corel, Photoshop or Paintshop Pro. There are plenty of graphics for download, some of which are gorgious, I especially liked the 'trinkets' set containing little gold icons (stars, sun etc.) and the blue business icons set I've started using on my Win95 desktop! Well worth a look this one.

Return to topHTML Goodies.com

A branch of a group of sites devoted to web design, HTML Goodies it just what it says, there are tutorials in many, if not all, aspects of HTML along with a discussion forum, there's also tips on how to make a banner to promote your site, and some free gifs (backgrounds, bullets, rules etc.). It's definitely a good site for all levels of HTML - the only problem being the loading time!

Return to topJavaGoodies.com

Another branch of the same group as HTML Goodies, Java Goodies was the better of the two I thought, I don't think it's as much of a teaching site as it is a VERY handy reference and place to pick up 'ready-made' snippets of Java Applets and Javascript which can be cut 'n' pasted into your web page (as long as credit is given where it's due!) I'm not exagerrating when I say there are LOADS of these, from clocks and calenders to scrolling text and marquees. I know I'm going back there when I need something else to liven up my pages!
