"Daydream"

If I were a little acorn just think what I could be!

When I grew up I'd be a strong and mighty oak tree!!

I would feel the warm breezes of summer blowing through my branches;

And my little leaves in brisk, cold winter doing all kind of dances.

In the most forceful winds my roots would hold tight so I wouldn't fall.

And in floods and heavy rains; I'd be brave and stand up tall.

In spring I'd get initials from the lovers who came by.

And as they did their carving, I'd be brave and not cry.

I'd be a hotel for all the bird families to rest;

And hear their babies chirping from their carefully made nests.

And when I'm fully grown, I'd drop my acorns to the ground;

For all the little squirrels to gather - And I'd watch them scurry, homeward bound.

Oh! Just to be as strong and might as the tall oak tree;

But I'm not a little acorn, you see -

I'm just Little Ole Me!!

"Education is Best"

Boy! She really must have nerves of steel;

To make thirty children learn to heel!!

All week long they're to do their best;

For come on Friday, there's always a test.

To her each paper must be a folklore;

I think I should have studied a wee bit more!!

All day long is readin', writtin' and 'ritmetic;

And "Pop Tests" that make you sweat and sick!

It would be much better to play all day;

And watch all the ships out in the bay!

But, I don't want to be stupid or get funny looks;

So I'll learn what I can and crack open my books!

Teachers are really friends indeed;

For they're parents of the knowledge seed!

And if it wasn't for them, how lost we would be;

For there wouldn't be winners of any -

"Advice"

Please get me thru this working day.

I've worked all week and it's time to play!

My nerves are shot and my brain's all rattled;

Because of a week of wars and tiring battles.

It's Friday now and I need some peace;

Only Saturday and Sunday, can my sanity reach!!

This fast paced world is getting me down;

My bones now are aching and I wear a gray crown.

So head this warning from a tired old fool;

Make good grades, get that education -AND

Stay in School!!

"Stay Awhile"

Stay awhile and talk with me.

You've been around the world,

And you've sailed on may seas.

You've seen picturesque sunsets on many horizons;

And wakened to a new beauty as the sun was arisin'.

You've felt the sway of the mighty waves;

And in great storms, felt fear;

Hoping that death was not too near.

Standing on the bow with the wind in your face,

Caressing your lady, gently,

For at the helm is your place!

A bond you've made with you and your sea,

But stay awhile and talk with me.

Please set your anchor and do not leave,

For there's much more learning I need from thee.

Tell me of this desire that beckons you go;

And of the ocean breezes, that warm you so.

When I grow up, it's like you I wish to be;

So stay awhile and talk with me.

"'Tis true I'm only but a small lad,

But the knowledge I yearn for,

Comes from only you, Dan!

I hunger for all the secrets of the sea;

And on shore ''tis such a lonely place for me!

My dreams are to help with the heavy nets,

And being at your side as the sun does set.

Your blood runs through my tiny veins;

My yearnings, like yours, are much the same.

Now, as the tide ebbs on out to sea;

There's such little time left; -

So please stay awhile and talk with me.

"June"

Flowers start blooming in early spring.

Lovely little songs; the birds do sing.

From flower to flower the honey bees fly,

Drinking the sweet nectar, Mater Nature supplies.

The bride is lovely in a gown of white.

Weddings in June are a beautiful sight!

Children so excited for school's finally out;

The Seniors all busy and hurrying about!

Invitations to writes and parties for fun;

Thoughts of Prom, with that special someone.

Memories were made over twelve long years;

Lots of laughter, joy and a few fallen tears.

Lessons were learned and carefully taught;

Success in the future is cautiously sought.

Now it's time for the caps and gowns,

Family and friends all gather around.

Over there is Dad with a glisten to his eye;

And Mom by his side, trying hard not to cry.

The moment's arrived thru all trials and tribulations;

A new chapter unfolds, with your Graduation!!
