After wading through the eleven paragraphs of legal mumbo jumbo the letter comes down to three paragraphs.
"My client contends that those letters which you have published on your web site are defamatory and unless an apology is given on your site and the material removed, it will bring an action for defamation."
"My client demands as part of that apology that you publish the material written by the following travel writers: Sam Ion, Wendy Gallagher, Ian Stalker, and Kriss Scheuer who personally visited the island in October of 1998. I enclose copies of the material."
"I will be visiting your site within the next few days as will my client. If the defamatory material has not been removed, an apology given and the material of the travel writers posted, I have been instructed by my client to pursue this matter with vogour."
The Link to the Travel Message Board, which was not a part of this site, and something I have no control over, only a link to another web site, has been removed as have the messages in the Guest Book. It seems strange, to me, that Regent Holidays will not allow me to publish your comments but demands that I publish the comments by those whose very jobs depend on the travel industry. If Regent had really wanted to impress someone, with the fact that the resort has changed, they should have sent us back to Contadora Island.
I want to thank everyone who used this site. In our first year on the net this site has registered more than 138,000 visitors.
This site will remain as a warning to travelers searching the internet for information. Regent is still showing the same old pictures of the resort that were outdated last year, but I have included a link to the site as they demanded.
Regent Holidays wants an apology so here goes:
I started this site as a way to stop Regent Holidays Ltd. from ignoring the complaints of one of it's customers and to try to get them to do the right thing by way of refunding the money spent on a very bad vacation. Although I received no such apology from Regent Holidays Inc. for the vacation they provided me, I apologize.
