I QUIT!!!!I can't stand it anymore. This show (school show, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum) is an absolute DISASTER! Honestly, I can't even begin to describe to you how depressed, angry and totally frustrated I am with almost everyone involved in this production!
Half the fucking cast doesn't show up to rehearsals. We are two weeks away from the first performance (Nov. 30) and we haven't had a full cast rehearsal. Oh, we've had rehearsals for the full cast, but NOT THE WHOLE CAST SHOWS UP!
The costumes are so ugly the actors refuse to wear them (myself included), the sets aren't near ready yet, two leads don't know their lines at all, the male ensemble is so clueless it's funny, the dancers who have solos (me being one of them) have never ever heard our music that we're dancing to because the orchestra can't play it, the orchestra is so bad the band teacher refuses to conduct them, the directors are all spineless and have no idea how to get the actors to do anything, the choreographer can't express how a movement is supposed to look, and...
EVERYTHING IS HORRIBLE!!
We sound pretty good actually. But oh god we look horrible! It's the case of many screwing it over for a select few people.
Take rehearsal today. We were working on "Comedy Tonight," the opening number of the show. It's big, it's fun, it's... a comedy! The whole cast is in this number. The cast consists of 23 people. how many people were at rehearsal today you ask? 15.
Okay, fine. 15... more than half... should be able to get SOMETHING accomplished. Did we? Nope. People still don't know how to hold their hand out for the final 'comedy' in the song, people still don't kick the right way, and people still don't know exactly what they are doing. And did anyone single these people out and tell what they were doing wrong? Did the choreographer stand up and say, "Okay guys, your arm has to be down, and strong on that note"?NOOOOOO!
Now, I've never been in a *real* show (OAC drama play just doesn't cut it). But I KNOW rehearsals are not supposed to work this way! Even with amateurs that we are, things DO NOT work this way! My 6 year olds that I taught dance to had a better rehearsal ethic than this cast does!
Now, it's not the WHOLE cast... just a large portion of it.
If I could quit right now, I probably would. I was so frustrated I walked out of rehearsal in tears tonight... it's sosososososososososososososo fucking frustrating!! Why can't everyone show up to rehearsals, know their lines, and LISTEN. Why can't the directors and the choreographer stand up and say that someone is doing something wrong or that we all are doing something wrong?
As of right now, I'm not even buying my own mother a ticket to this show.
I just want to ram my head into a brick wall I'm so frustrated!
