days until I leave for England: 0!!!

Have a fabulous 10 days y'all! I'll talk to you when I get back :)

****************************************

August 7th, 2000

time: 6:14pm
today is: my cousin Jill's moving day (which means we babysat her little boy who's almost 2)
days until I leave for England: 2
days until I leave for school: 25
IMing with: Jason from Buffalo
singing along with: Aida OBC (but soon Parade OBC)
last theatrical production I saw: The Lioin King
last movie I saw: The Kid - it was cute. I want to see What Lies Beneath but I'm SO scared! Someone come with me?
anticipating: London, England! And going to school... how sad is that?? I'm way too excited
Dumb Law of the Day, from www.dumblaws.com: from Nova Scoita, Canada: When raining, a person may not water his/her lawn
reading for me: London by Edward Rutherford (it's a really long, big, heavy book) In the meantime, I finished Deadly Decisions by Kathy Riechs (it was excellent)
reading for school: The Epic of Gilgamesh by Annonymous (okay, I've read the first page. I really should do some serious reading)
link me up: Official London Theatre - exxxxcelllent
quote of the day: John Cleese:

"If life were fair, Dan Quayle would be making a living asking 'Do you want fries with that?'"

lol, I love my new catagory! I fell out of my chair laughing the first time I read most of the www.dumblaws.com site. So amusing.
Pardon the lack of updates. Life is busy.
The upstairs of my part of the house is a ridiculous mess. My room looks like a Tornado swept through it, and I've taken over the two spare bedrooms as packing rooms. One room is packing for school; the other room is packing for London :) It's a good thing my siblings don't live with us and we have more room in the house than we know what to do with. I will admit, it is a little ridiculous.
Okay, dinner is ready... all for now. I'll update before I go to London.

quote of the day: the one and only Dan Quayle:

"We're going to have the best-educated American people in the world."

Thanks everybody for the birthday wishes and greetings!
I had a really nice birthday. My mom and I went shopping downtown during the afternoon, and then me, my mom, Laura, Michelle and Peggie (we've known each other since Michelle and I were 5), and Joel and Jamie, who are Peggie's nephews and our friends. Dinner was fun, laughed a lot, and the food was good too!
Laura and Tonya gave me the cutest t-shirt - it's from Jacob Jr., and it says "Cowgirl" across the front, with stars around a picture of a cowgirl. It's in neon green too :) Apparently Tonya has something else for me... I worry. I know Laura was responsible for the shirt, and Laura wouldn't worry me. But Tonya... I worry. Tonya, behave :)
I *really* have to start reading for school. I'm going to read the books (duh, obviously), but make notes about each section/chapter as I go along. I think that's very nerdy and smart thinking of me :) I plan on taking The Epic of Gilgamesh, The Repulic and maybe The Iliad with me for the plane to and from London. I have those three, plus all three volumes of Dante's The Divine Comedy read first for September. We'll see how much I get done.
Ug, my eye is driving me nuts all of a sudden. There are still two stitches in it, and they refuse to come out. You can see part of them, but they just won't come out! It's really annoying. Hopefully the doctor can like, flood them out tomorrow when I go. I cannot wait to swim!! Tomorrow, tomorrow...(continue singing everybody)
Okay, I am going to bed very very soon because I was so tired today I was falling over. Wow that was a BAD sentence :) Oh well. Goodnight!

I meant to scan pictures today and yesterday, but I'm simply too tired. I hate working.
Tonya, e-mail me the dirty lyrics! I want to share them with the virtual world that reads this page so they can understand the level of scarring!
How is Press (Lisa Press) going into grade 12?!?!?! Press, you are a baby! You're not supposed to be going into your second last year of high school and taking OAC's! It's wrong wrong wrong. Geesh, next thing you know you'll be getting married Press.

I started packing! Everytime I get something for school, or remember something I have that I'll need, I put it in the spare bedroom. Today, I started emptying my closet of winter clothes I know I will not need until October/November (sweaters, fleece tops, etc.). Packing is kinda scary. This whole thing is kinda scary.
I have a migraine, so that's all for today.

July 25th, 2000

Can we all just take a moment and laugh hysterically at my quote today? Thanks.
Hey, I updated other parts of this stie! Check out the "Me" section! Tomorrow is the Animal update and maybe the "Silly Things" if I get around to it.
My eye is allll better! Well, almost all better; it's still a little red in the corners. It looks like I have really bad allergies... oh wait, I *do* have really bad allergies. Oh, nevermind. It looks great, the stiches are all out except for one, and it feels great. :)
THANK-YOU LARA AND LINDSAY! They both sent me postcards! I love mail. Does anyone else want to send me mail?? E-mail me and I'll send you my snail mail address.
I went shopping today with Tonya. I had mommy's VISA card MWAHAHAHAHAHA! Don't worry, I didn't do too much damage. I got new running shoes (Nikes, white, silver and blue), more books for school, cute funky hair clips, scrunchies, a necklace, and jeans. The jeans are black, from The Gap, and are gorgeous! They fit sooo well and are so comfy and look dsam good. I'm quite happy with all my purchases :) Mom knew about the shoes and the books, but the jeans were a surprise (I paid for the hair stuff and necklace). Shockingly enough, she was totally cool about it, 'cause I don't have a pair of black jeans and do (did) need them. So yay for me shopping. I had to take Tonya with me to get the shoes because it's not fun shopping for shoes alone, and I can't go with my mom because we end up having a world war. Shoes are the only thing I can't shop with my mom for, probably because she is SUCH a shoe whore. You would not believe the number of pairs of shoes my mom has! It's ridiculous. Anyway, yay again for my shopping.
Work is SO boring. I feel as though if I have to file one more thing in those stupid suite files I'm going to develop homicidal tendencies! After working in this office for 4 summers, I definitely know what I don't want to do for the rest of my life! If anyone ever needs motivation for continuing their education and/or going on to higher education, come work at my office for a few weeks. Blah.
I've started packing for school. So far, I've put (in a box) about 9 books. That's it. And they are not even school books; they're just my books. Considering I leave in 38 days, I'm moving out, and I have an unbelieveable amount of shit, think I should really start packing? I think it might be a good idea.
YAY for Laura who finishes her job on Friday! I hope you get the residence you want too, hon!
Okie dokie, I'm exhausted and it's time for bed!

quote of the day: Anthony J. D'Angelo:

"Always be nice to secretaries. They are the real gatekeepers in the world."

YES, I AM ALIVE! SHE LIVES! WOOHOO!

Wow has it been a shitty, shitty, 7 days. The eye operation went totally fine - my eye is really straight, and it doesn't hurt at all. It's red; looks like I have pink eye :) And right at the moment, it's as itchy as hell. So, the actual surgery didn't hurt / doesn't hurt at all, but the anesthesia just about killed me. Ug was I a sick sick cow! As I mentioned above, today is the first day I ate real food since last Wednesday. Yay for real food! Oh - I hadn't had a Coke since last Wednesday either - I had one today, and I almost fell over from the simple pleasure. Yumm... Cocoa-Cola... nector of the Gods.
I'm getting ridiculously excited for school :) More about my courses later, when I feel like explaining and linking stuff.
Okay, I'm tired, time for bed. More later.

C.J.: I'm Catholic.

Helloooo! My my so much has happened!
First of all, I’m going to New York City on Friday!! Here’s the crazy story: My mom runs a development company. They build buildings, and my mom basically does everything – all the marketing, sales, bit of accounting and financial predictions, deals with pissed off purchasers, designs the occasional loft, modifies floor plans, pretends she’s an architect and re-designs parts of the buildings’ structural properties, deals with construction issues, and tries to keep peace in the office among the people who work for her. Do I ever see my mom, you ask? Well, occasionally :). Anyway, the owner of the company that my mom runs has been a real pain lately, and stressing my mom out more than she already is. Eve, who owns and runs the real estate company my mom hired to actually sell the condos and lofts they build, has noticed my mom is a little stressed (Eve and my mom are pretty good friends). The owner of my mom’s company is pissed off at Eve for no good reason, and my mom has been sticking up for Eve.
SO, Eve randomly phones me up at home a couple weeks ago and says to me, “Hi Lis, listen – I want to send you and your mom to New York City for a weekend. You tell me when you want to go and what shows you want to see, and I’ll do everything else.” After making sure Eve was not under the influence of any mind-altering substances, I managed to get over enough of my shock to tell her when we could go and what we wanted to see :). So, as promised, Eve took care of everything! She told my mom on Friday at our office – it was hilarious. All I hear is my mom saying, “WHAT???” about forty times from the meeting room, and then, “Lisa! Get down here!!” lol, she couldn’t believe that I’d known about this for two weeks and hadn’t let anything slip (it almost killed me, btw).
SOOO, my mom and I are off to New York Friday afternoon, seeing The Music Man Friday night, seeing Aida Saturday night, and coming home Sunday afternoon! Turtle and I are going to do something Saturday afternoon. Oooo… Saturday morning, my mom and I are doing a trek through the downtown area. Like, Wall Street, Battery Park, and… COURT HOUSES!!! Sorry. I’m a geek. I know. I also read the U.S. Constitution in my spare time. It’s gonna be a Law and Order morning :). Mwahahahaahaha…
What else? Oh yeah – I finished high school! Woohoo! My final marks were good, except for stupid English. My OAC marks are: English – 72%, biology – 73%, French – 75%, drama – 80%, media/literature – 80%, writer’s craft – 85%, politics – 90%, and law – 90%. So, OAC average is 81%, but my top 6 OAC average (which is the one that counts) is 84%. However, Nova Scotia only looks at your top 5 OACs, which means my average is 85%. So basically, my OAC average is 84 and a bit :):). Quite respectable!
So I've decided to have the eye operation. Well, "I've" might be the wrong pronoun. Everyone who knows me has decided I should have it, so I went along with the LOUD majority. Might as well get it over with this summer, before I get a real job and go into the semi-real world. It's not that it's a big deal or painful, it's just a freakin' inconvinience! I can't swim for three weeks! That's the biggest pain in the ass. I'm a fish - I spend my whole summer in the water. We have a pool in our backyard. It's going to kill me. I'm so pissed off about it. The other side is of course that I won't (hopefully) have to do this again, so the absence of swimming pays off in the long run. However, my attitude is 'fuck the long run, I'm just going to be hot and miserable for three weeks.' Just a warning - if anyone DARES send me e-mail telling me that getting my eye fixed now is all worth, and I'll thank myself later on in life, I swear to God I will hurt you. I will hurt you so much you will not remember your name, let alone how to turn on your computer. You've all been warned :)
Hmmm... what else? Did everyone have a good Canada Day? Lara? Discover any new water bottles?
I know I had more to write in here, but I forgot. Doh. Oh well, more later!

I really should be studying for my OAC law exam tomorrow. I've been making study notes allll day. Making study notes (typing them up and stuff) is quite an effective way of studying. I've done 10 chapters; I have 2 chapters left to do. "Defences" and "Sentencing." Someone put me out of my misery now!
Back to the salt mines...

No work today :( There was a huge fire undergroud (a generator) on King Street West, between Bay and University. My subway stop is at King West and University... the train wasn't stoping there! So, I went back to sleep. Plus, there was no power in our office for most of the day, so no one got much done and went home early. To make up for today, I think I'm going to go into work tomorrow afternoon (I had the day off tomorrow).
I really don't have much to say today... maybe I'll add more later!

today is: the morning after
IMing with: Jason, Jeff and Stacy
singing along with: nothing
last theatrical production I saw: Rent
last movie I saw: Center Stage - loved it way more than I should have!
anticipating: The Lion King in July and London (England) in August

quote of the day: Eileen, talking about doing *somthing* to a certain skinny, cute, white boy:

"I'd probably break him... but it would be fun!"

Oh my. Where to even start? Yesterday was the closing show of Rent in Toronto - again. I was in line for Sunday night's show from 9:30pm on Saturday to 5:30pm on Sunday. I got an hour and a half of sleep at the most :) It rained for most of the day on Sunday and got as cold as 10 degrees celcius outside (for you Americans, that's about fifty degrees). By 1:30am this morning (when we finally went to bed), we all were, as Stacy put it, "slap happy" :)
However, lack of sleep and all, I had an AMAZING time :) Mary decided to throw me a birthday party in line. She made loot bags, full of toys too! And Eileen made me a t-shrit that says "moo with me" across the front. I'd wanted a RentBirthday for SO long... Thanks guys again!!
The Sunday night show was amazing (saw the show on Friday too). Dom was on as Mimi, and she was on FIRE! Cary was better than usual; Trish was absolutely wonderful and adorable; Mark (Ford, he plays Collins) was just incredible - his "Reprise" gave me goosebumps; Curtis was on as Mark and he was sooo great (making the role his own, despite his nervousness); Shaun (Angel) was fabulous (he's gotten SO good! So much better than Buffalo); Jacqueline (Joanne) was amazing as always; Brian (Benny) was great; and Erin (Maureen) brought the house down :) She was just AMAZING - *so* funny. I thought I was going to pee myself during "Over the Moon." That's all the Rent stuff for now - more later in the other part of the site.
Serious part of this entry now - I have a delima, and I need feedback on this. What I would really like is someone to just make the decision for me, but we all know that isn't how life works, unfortunately. So, here's the deal:
As most of you have noticed, I have one eye that always turns in. It's like that 'cause of my Albinism (Albino Child... yup that's me) - the eye muscle is spastic. So, on July 13th, at 10:30am, I can have an operation that will center the eye. It doesn't improve my sucky vision; it's basically for cosmetic reasons. They are no real risks, because my vision in that eye is so sucky already :) I've already had this eye straightened twice, but it keeps going back. Getting it fixed is really just a large pain in the ass because I'll have to wear a patch over my eye for a while and then not go out of the house for a bit 'cause I can't get dirt and shit in it. So it's a pain in the ass. I don't even notice that my eye turns in. Do you guys notice it?? I dunno. Feedback please. What should I do?
Okay, time for sleep again. I'm so dsam tired!

Yes, pick yourselves up off the floor, this is a *real* update. One of my many goals for the summer is to update this thing at least once every two days. We'll see how I do :)
How freaky is it that I'll be finished high school in 4 days? Well, technically I'm not done until June 30th (which is the "official" last day of school), but my last class is Thursday and then my last exam in Friday the 23rd. That's crazy. I'm so old.
So, I saw Rent on Firday. The show was AMAZING! I didn't fall asleep at all during it (not even "Your Eyes"), and everyone on stage (with the exception of Not-Not Trish... Trish called out) was really really good! Dom was on as Mimi and was simply amazing! I have not seen a Mimi like that since May '98! Cary has improved and was great with Dom... Matt (mark) was wonderful, as was the rest of the cast. Erin (maureen) deserves a mention too :) She was a lot of fun and a great voice. I *will* have my big review of the show up under "My Rent" before hell freezes over. Really. I will.
Another one of my goals for the summer is to finish my Rent journal. Both the edited version (online) and the unedited version (paper). As you all are my witnesses, I will finish it. Another goal is to actually update the other sections on this site. That goal is looking a little sketchy, but we'll see.
OH - we are celebrating Lindsay Turtle's birthday in line next Sunday, the 18th. That lucky little Turtle is going to be in NYC for her actual birthday, so we're doing it on Sunday. I'm making cupcakes. Anyone have birthday candles?
lol, you should hear my voice. It sounds like I'm a boy going through puberty with larengitis (sp?). I sound ridiculous :) No idea what is wrong... I don't feel that sick... I've had a miserable cold for 2.5 weeks, but that's normal for me. Who knows... I better not be getting sick for next weekend. Mind you, knowing my luck (Vancouver... Ft. Myers... NYC...) I'll probably be hospitalized by next week. Grr.
I have to say goodbye to Mrs. Reid on Tuesday. :( I'll be an emotional wreck that night. We'll give Mrs. Reid a tribute on Tuesday, so you'll all learn who she is then, if you don't already know.
Okay, I have to go finish a writer's craft assignment (the last one WOOHOO!) so I'm off.
