New LSC Board for 2000-2001

See new LSC Board as of July 2000.

Priority Assignment to Teams

LSC assigns players to teams in the following order in its effort to provide play for every registered player. Please note that Player Assessment participation is a criterion for travel players, U10 and up, only.

Registrants are assigned to teams in priority group order until no slots or no players remain.

If an age group is under subscribed, LSC may be unable to field a league team. For example, a full-sided team requires 12 players minimum, 18 maximum. If only five players register for a full-sided age group, LSC would be unable to provide play for these otherwise qualified players if it not engage additional players or to discover alternatives.

Sportsman-Like Conduct Policy

Littleton Soccer supports the growth of self-esteem as well as athleticism. LSC expects the following from athletes and families to insure a positive, supportive atmosphere for growth and enjoyment by all involved:

Sportsman-like Conduct

Generally Helpful Conduct

League Zero Tolerance Policies

For travel team player families, we request that you acquaint yourselves and your athletes with the NVYSL and AVYSL Zero Tolerance Policies as well as the MYSA Coach’s Code of Conduct.

These documents are located in the league schedule books. You may also find them under Conduct Policies on this web site.

World Cup ‘99—June 10, 2000

We will hold our World Cup tournament and celebration on Saturday, June 10th starting at 8:45 a.m. The Littleton Fire Department Color Guard will lead the parade from Jett Field to the football field at Russell Street. Following the national anthem, the tournament will run from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., followed by a cookout and presentation of trophies to the tournament participants. (Rain date is June 17th.)

Volunteers Needed for World Cup 2000

We need volunteers to help make World Cup Day ‘00 a success. We’re asking for at least one parent from each in-town team to assist. Call Bob Stall at 486-3601 today!

Annual Meeting— June 14, 1999

The Littleton Soccer Club annual meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, June 14, from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. in the Multipurpose Room in the Shattuck Street building. The annual meeting, a requirement of the LSC’s Constitution, is open to all Members (parents of registered players) of LSC. The agenda is the nomination of candidates for and the election of next year’s LSC Board, and other items and input of import to Members.

The Board is made up entirely of non-paid volunteers. Current Board openings include President, Treasurer, Registrar, and Booster Director.

LYSA Fund Raising

Littleton Youth Sports Association is conducting its annual fund raising. If you are looking for a way to contribute directly to LSC—towards referee and coach training, CPR training, uniforms, equipment, field maintenance—please consider designating your contribution to Littleton Soccer. Thanks!

Evaluation Day— June 17, 2000

LSC Evaluation Day is Saturday, June 17th, 2000. All players who will travel in the fall of 2000 will be required to participate. Scheduling details, including times and age groupings, will be distributed shortly.

Evaluation Day will consist of a variety of individual and small group activities designed to allow travel staff to assess players’ skills. Travel staff will use their observations together with coach recommendations to assign players to traveling teams.

Evaluation Day is to enable player and team assignment to appropriate league divisions and flights, e.g., Division 2A, 2B, 2C. The leagues have moved to group teams within both division and flight by similar abilities. The leagues’ and LSC’s objective is to minimize "blow outs" of one team by another in the same flight., and to provide the best opportunity for challenging and rewarding play.

From time-to-time, LSC will petition a league for an exception when a player's level of play indicates an early move to the next level. LSC only takes such action with the coach’s recommendation and the consent of the player's parents.

First Games Scheduled for April 8th

The first LSC travel teams’ and U6 / U8 teams’ spring season games are scheduled for Saturday, April 8th. The LSC PeeWee program starts one week later, on Saturday, April 15th.

You will be hearing from your coaches shortly about practice schedules, a team season kick-off meeting, and, for travel teams, the league handbooks with game locations.

Spring Assignment to Age Group

You’ve had many questions about when players move age groups. Players play the spring season in the same age group that they played in during the fall season. For example, all players on U8 teams in the fall of 1999 will remain playing in U8 in the spring of 2000.

In-Town Game Times

U8 games will start at 9:00 a.m. at Russell Street in the baseball and field hockey areas.

U6 games will be held on the football field at Russell Street starting at 10:30 a.m.

PeeWee scrimmages will start at 9:00 a.m. on the football field.

Refreshment Concession

We will be contacting In-Town player parents throughout the season to sign up one parent of each player to serve one 30-minute period during the season at the Saturday morning concession at Russell Street.

The concession is the primary fund raiser for Littleton Soccer. Last fall, the concession was very successful under the creative leadership of Donna Trainor and Nancy Bowen with the help of the many volunteers who donated their time each Saturday.

Special Thanks to Veryfine

Veryfine Products Inc. of Littleton donated the fruit drinks that we were able to offer at the refreshment stand last fall. Veryfine’s generosity contributed significantly to our being able to meet both our refreshment and fund-raising objectives.

Spring Game Schedule

LSC Player Development Program

As we start our spring 2000 season, it’s time to remind ourselves of the objectives of our Player Development Program:

The Player Development Program is the basis for player skills development, soccer camp content, coaching guidelines, and coach clinics.

Travel-Team Practice & Game Fields

When the new high school construction starts, the King Street fields will no longer be available for recreational use. If this occurs during our spring season, LSC will announce alternate field assignments to maximize the use of the remaining field resources.

The new Ayer Road fields will be ready for play in the fall of 2000 and will alleviate any short term inconvenience we may experience this spring.

Thanks in advance for your patience and flexibility should we need to execute our travel-team field contingency plan.
