Travel Teams & the AVYSL

Travel Teams

Littleton Soccer Club has teams which travel to other towns in the region for games in the girls and boys U10 and up divisions of the Assabet Valley Youth Socccer League (AVYSL).

AVYSL is a recreational league that includes member towns along the Route 495 corridor from Littleton to Hopkinton. Benefits to Littleton are that it enables LSC to meet its commitment to play all players, provides the opportunity to explore recreational league play, and expands options to grow player skills.

LSC participation in AVYSL is in addition to membership in the competitive Nashoba Valley Youth Soccer League (NVYSL).

Uniforms and Equipment

Each player must wear shin guards or will not be allowed to play. Cutoffs, jams and visible boxer shorts are not allowed. Seats, spandex, etc. are only allowed if weather or medical conditions dictate there use. NO JEWELERY (this also means studs) is permitted and wrist bands must be removed or taped. Hard casts or splints on arms, legs, wrists or fingers are not allowed. Knee or elbow braces must be covered by protective padding.

AVYSL member clubs are expected to FUN and DEVELOPMENT.

FUNThe number one reason to play is to have fun. The numeber one reason not to play is that it's not fu. To promote fun we will encourage equall participation in practice and games, matching athletes' ability to their challenges, and by helping to set performance goals rather than outcome goals.

DEVELOPMENT
We strive to help young people develop in three ways.

Physically by learning the skills of soccer, improving physical fitness, and developing good health habits.
Psychologically by developing self-esteem and confidence through success experiences.
Socially by learning to cooperate in a competitive context with appropriate standards of sportsmanship.
