First of all, welcome to STOMP OUT NAME CALLING.
Initially, this page was created as a project for a San Diego State University class and for the San Diego Human Relations Comission. However, that class has long been over and I have decided to continue with this project.
The main goal of this cause is to teach children to respect others regardless of race, disability, etc. I believe that name calling is the beginning of lack of respect. So if we teach our children to respect while they are young, they will carry this with them towards the future. This is important because the children of today are the leaders of tomorrow.
STOMP OUT NAME CALLING is a non-profit cause. However,in order to pay for the costs which it incurs, I am in the process of starting a small, home-based business. This business will be an on-line banner distribution, (Of which 20% will go directly to SONC), and I am also in the process of starting a flyer distribution business in the county of San Diego, CA.
Future plans of SONC include: Participation in fairs, parades, festivals, etc. As soon as there are enough funds, I will start recruiting children who would like to volunteer in SONC activities. Further in the future, I would like to start a program in which children can come to after school and watch movies, programs, puppet shows, or do activities which will help them learn about the different contributions made by other countries. I would like to teach them about different traditions, cultures, etc.
For now, SONC has been presented at the Linda Vista Multicultural Fair, and as you know, there is a web page which talks to children about the importance of not calling people names. The web page also takes children into a different adventure every Saturday. On these adventures they learn about different cultures, traditions, countries, etc.
