Christmas in Tucson

These are some of the pictures of my ride on the Starr Pass/Yetman Trail in Tucson Arizona.

We both flew down from the Bay Area to visit relatives at Christmas (1996). The day of the ride was actually the first time Bill and I had met in person. We rented bikes from a shop in Tucson...basic Trek 980's. Rode pretty well for low end bikes...but the brakes really stunk.
Picture # 1 is Bill (the skinny guy on the left), and me with the hideous green rental helmet. The picture was taken by another guy we met on the trail...who lives in Santa Rosa CA!

Picture #2 is me climbing the little singletrack section. The real challenge is to avoid falling on any cacti! Getting "cactus butt" would not be too fun.

Picture #3 is, well...me walking my bike in 3" deep gravel. The "trail" actually is a wash for a couple of miles. So, you can imagine the pleasure of riding through that stuff.
