in 1988 - IMBA is a non-profit, public-supported organization. The mission
of IMBA is to promote mountain bicycling opportunities that are environmentally

Norba
/ USA Cycling - The National Off-Road Bicycle Association (NORBA) is the
world's and nation's largest and oldest mountain biking association and
serves as the national governing body for mountain biking, creating and
maintaining standard rules and rider categories. As a not-for-profit
entity, NORBA offers to members of all abilities racing opportunities by
sanctioning off-road events nationwide. As support, NORBA provides racing
memberships, club memberships, scheduling assistance, race officials, a
monthly national publication, and other event materials to mountain bike
clubs that organize mountain bike events. NORBA promotes the sport to the
general public and works to keep trails open for all riders. Also, NORBA
issues event permits for cross-country, hillclimb, downhill, dual slalom,
time trial and observed trials events and markets the sport to sponsors
