This is the Grandmother That Could...

I never thought I'd be building my own web site, but here I am doing it! So what have you got to say about that?

Picture of Muffin and
Jasmine

These lovely girls are my grand-dogs, Jasmine and Muffin. Aren't they just the cutest darn things you've ever seen?

(I have to report that sadly my darling grand-dog, Muffin Collie-Flower, crossed over the Rainbow Bridge on Monday, June 28, 1999 ~ She will remain in our hearts and minds forever.)

And this is my grand-kitty, Isabelle Elisabeth

Isabelle

Isabelle keeps me company when I visit her once a year in the Summer - we share the same bedroom when I am there - she doesn't mind sharing with me.

And this was my darling grand-dog, Coriander, better known as "Cory", who has moved on to greener pastures recently. I shall miss her when I visit her home this Summer, but she will live in my heart forever ... and I will always love her.

~GRAMMY AND CORY~

Cory and I also shared a bedroom...you see, Cory`s domain was the lower floor of her master`s home, consisting of a large L-shaped family room containing a lovely raised-hearth fireplace, the family television and stereo, the computer and several couches (one of which turned into my bed), chairs, ottomans and everything to make life comfortable for our beautiful Cory.

At night, when I went to bed, she would walk over to sniff or lap my face before settling down for the night, ever mindful not to lie in my path to the bathroom, but at the foot of the bed.

The picture above was taken in a corner of that room. When I go to visit this summer, I know that her spirit will be right there with me but ... oh how I will miss her!

TO MOTHER WITH LOVE

~ A REMEMBRANCE OF DAYS GONE BY ~

pianoman

As I remember my dear Mother, the first thing that comes to mind is how much she loved, and patterned her life after the wonderful ... "DESIDERATA" ... by Max Ehrmann. So much did Mother love it, that she purchased many cards of Desiderata and gave them to all of her friends. It pleases me to reproduce it here for your pleasure, in her memory...

Desiderata banner

Go
placidly banner...amid the noise and the haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence...As far as possible, without surrender; be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even to the dull and the ignorant; they too have their story. Avoid loud and aggressive persons; they are vexatious to the spirit...

vineline

If you compare yourself with others, you may become bitter or vain, for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career; however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time...Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is: many persons strive for high ideals, and everywhere life is full of heroism...

vineline

Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment, it is as perennial as the grass...

vineline

Take kindly the cousel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness...

vineline

Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be...

vineline

And whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul. With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.
