AN ORGANIZED STEP BY STEP PROCEDURE TO IDENTIFY WILD BIRDS FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE JUST BEGINNING OR THOSE WHO HAVE   ALREADY STARTED BUT NEED MORE DIRECTION.

For Kids young or old, it's never too late to get started in this fascinating hobby. For the younger kids "The Bird Detective Series". We will be looking for clues! For the Beginner through Intermediate Adult the course is geared to the individual level of knowledge.

The Beginner Course is designed to explain the basics of Bird identification with classes and field trips. We want you to be able to identify the Bird yourself!

The Intermediate Course gives a more advanced view of the basics with emphasis on HABITAT, SIZE, and BEHAVIOR. The Guru's of Birding see the same speck in the same scope you do, but they are looking for something else! Do you know what that is?

In the study package there is a section on Field Guides, Birding Periodicals, and Birding Club Information. We recommend and provide registration forms for both Local (Houston) and National Audabon, Nature Conservancy, ABA, Cornell Lab, and T.O.S. (Texas Ornithology Society). The packet also includes items on how to choose, clean, and adjust binoculars, various types of checklists and their importance, plus the Study Guide section listing seven steps to Field Identification. If you want to excel at anything, you must study the subject and become familiar with all guidelines and details. This is true of Birding. As you become familiar with your Field Guides, you should take time to set up a plan for Identification. The plan outlined in the Birder's Haven Study Guide will help save valuable time in gaining the skills necessary to become a competent Birder and give you some thoughts and ideas that will last you a lifetime!
