Chapter One

Briana had pretty much been bumming around her house all summer, beside some occasionally work days at her Dad’s office, Briana felt all alone. While she had gone on vacation (and always does) right as school ended when everyone wanted to get together, her friends had picked more suitable times, like now. Chloe was in Phoenix, Karen was in Toronto and her so called best friend, Samantha seen to be spending her whole summer with the boyfriend of the day. But, thank God, Briana still had Jenna, they were spending a lot of time together this summer, cuz Bri didn’t exactly need a job and Jenna was stuck baby-sitting her little sister. They had a lot more in common then they originally thought, well at least Bri thought. While Briana loved Jenna to death and they were really close, she always thought Jenna was the boy crazy one, well this summer proved that in fact not only did they have a lot in common they thought alike about a lot of things (like guys) and a lot of people.

This day just like yesterday Bri was headed over to Jenna’s house, but today was different. They were headed for some major shopping downtown, only problem was Jenna’s little sister, Dana. But with a little candy and promise of a Backstreet Boy poster she quickly tagged along with a promise not to whine. So, off they were headed in Bri’s car, to the place where one day they would live (well Bri, Karen and Chloe would). Shopping, Jenna and Briana are words that definitely go well together, shopping they did often and since they didn’t quite have the same styles they never fought over an outfit. A couple of hours into their shopping the girls stopped at McDonalds for a bite to eat.

Dana: Jenna, can I go play in the park? I’m finished eating.

Jenna: Fine, but stay were I can see you, ok?

Dana: Ok, bye.

Bri: She’s so cute.

Jenna: You don’t have to live with her.

Bri: Last time were here was a little different, huh?

Jenna: Just a little, you know it’s not everyday I get like 400 girls pushing and shoving at me.

Bri: But it was fun, and they were good. You would do it again, huh? Jenna: For sure, I mean in a second. I’d even wait for 6 hours in line again.

The girls were referring to the ‘N Sync concert they had seen around the corner a few weeks ago, they had a blast.

Bri: I heard they are here again

Jenna: Really? Right now Let’s go find them.

Bri: That’ s what you say when any band comes here, reality check. We have your sister, where shopping and they have thousands of girls chasing them, need I say more?

Jenna: Alright, let’s get out of here, maybe we’ll run into them.

Bri: (sarcastic) Of course we will.

Jenna: Dana, let’s go!

Bri: Where is she?

Jenna: Hiding somewhere pretending she doesn’t hear me, let’s go get her.

They headed to the play park in the McDonald’s, but Dana was nowhere to be seen.

Jenna: Dana! Dana! Where are you? Dana!!!

Bri: Dana, come its Briana, come here!!!!

Jenna: Dana! If you’re hiding this isn’t funny!!Dana!!

Jenna was pretty hysterical at this point, she was crying, shaking, yelling you name it she was doing it.

Bri: Come on Jenna, she’s here, she’s gotta around here somewhere.

Jenna: No, I lost her!!! Oh my God I lost her!!!!

By this time a crowd had gathered as Jenna yelled even louder. Briana asked everyone if they had seen a girl matching Dana’s description. The McDonald’s manager quickly called the police and people leaving promise to be on the lookout for a small blond 7 year old. Finally, after what seemed like an eternity (in reality about 5 minutes) they police showed up.

The girls gave the cops a complete description of Dana, and asked the girls to stay in one place, obviously they said no, they were gonna look for Dana themselves. They gave the cops their cell phones number and headed out the door. The girls decided to stick together, cuz they didn’t know that part of town either, and getting themselves lost wouldn’t help Dana any.

The girls looked all over the streets, and asked practically everyone they saw, but still no sign of her. Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, in reality a couple of hours, Bri’s cell phone rang.

“Hello?”

“Is this Jenna Smith?”

“Hold on.”

“Jen, it’s the cops.” And Bri handed Jen the phone.

“Hello?”

“Oh my God! You did, thank you so much, yeah, we’ll be there as soon as possible.”

“What happened? Did they find her? Is she okay?”

“Yeah, she’s fine, some guys found her and took her for some ice cream, and then she finally told them everything.”

“Oh my God! Thank God! I’m so glad she’s okay.”

“Yeah, let’s go get her.”

“Where is she?”

“The Spectrum.”

“The Spectrum? That’s an odd place.”

“Yeah, well the guys who found her work there or something like that.”

“Well, whatever as long as she is safe and sound.”

The girls headed for the Spectrum, it was like 10 minutes away. When the walked inside a security led them to the backstage area. When the walked into a room, Dana was there, eating ice cream, watching TV, looking perfectly happy and safe.

Jenna rushed to her side and hugged her. “Are you ok?”

“Yeah, I’m fine, that was a lot of fun.”
