About Jerry Jenkins...



Jerry Harrison Jenkins has been writing poetry since 1993.

He is a member of the Academy of American Poets and the Science Fiction Poetry Association, where his poetry has been nominated for the Association's Rhysling Award.

His poetry has won numerous awards in individual and chapbook competitions, and has appeared in such diverse publications as The Formalist, The Lyric, Mobius, Echoes, Harp-Strings, Amelia, The Piedmont Literary Review, Mail Call Journal,Deep South, Poetry Monthly (U.K.) and Star*Line.

His chapbooks include AVIAN, Helionaut, Hamadryad's Passage, Candle, Monks' Wine, Our Own Loving Kind, and Confluence (in collaboration with Rosa Clement).

He is a former Marine Corps officer with service in Vietnam, where he earned the Legion of Merit, and with the Joint Chiefs of Staff. He holds degrees in Psychology from the University of Texas, in Computer Science from the U. S. Naval Postgraduate School,and is a distinguished graduate of the U.S. Naval War College. He retired from the Marine Corps with the grade of Colonel to join the staff of George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia, where he was Assistant Vice-President for Information Technology.

His poetry is inspired by classical poets, by science-fiction and fantasy writers, and by the convergence of contemporary technological themes with humanist philosophy.
