a season for stillness...

 a season for stillness

three maple leaves
rest side by side
on a concrete porch
next to decorative pots of nurtured plants

the light of a street lamp
cuts through the hazy nighttime fog
dimly shining
upon the contours of autumn orange

three maple trees
stand side by side
firmly in the front lawn
windswept bared of its summery leaves

the birds which found a moment
of home and song within your boughs
have flown on with the wind

the restless rustle of dangling leaves
last season's breath ago

a time to reacquaint with stillness
