Session Start: Tue May 26 17:04:48 1998 NETSCAPE * Logging #campus to 'ns' how do I set netscape as my default browser I have only one browser, does anyone know the answer? I have some programs that use automatic use IE ... like MS at one time they would ask if I wanted to change it to my default but I always said no but now it no longer ask programs Do you get an option when you switch browsers asking if you want that one to be your default browser? that is because you say no PJ-2 do you mean to view HTML files.....or gif or jpg files? and stopped the pop up menue I think there is an answer in the UFAQ page. I have a canon printer and with it came some programs that use IE when you open the program IE is the browser now when I get the URL from friends on Icq ... they open in Ie when they did open in netscape I have one solution......... so think default has changed but I don't know where to go to get it changed back to netscape Copy the URL and then open Netscape and enter the URL. Blossom is the instructor for ICQ, bet she knows :) Blossom can you help I'll try........you can set all of your html files to open in Netscape by doing this choose any HTML file hightlight it here is a jucy little tid bit I just found at ZDnet, if your interested in how NS is fairing in the browser wars http://www.zdnet.com/anchordesk/story/story_2133.html If communicator is not your default browser, and when you start it up it does not ask to become the default browser, then: With communicator closed, locate the prefs.js in your ..\netscape\users\(username)\ folder. hold down Ctrl + and right click choose Open with http://help.netscape.com/kb/client/971009-21.html "How to make Communicator your default browser." choose Netscape check the box beside.."always open this type of file with this program"...... and click ok and all of your HTML files will then open in Netscape......... Ignore what oz wrote before. It is too complicated. until you change it........... did you get that? ok thanks ... I will try that and also check out that url Peaches yes blossom ... I will print that part of the log after this meeting ... thank you What time will the log be posted? do they post the log somewhere? I just always log myself everyone should log the sessions and then edit the log for personal use Logs are posted at http://members.tripod.com/~MCW_2/EagelsNest/en It is great to have logs posted for times we can not attend Eagel post logs and many other things on this page for other classes too. this may be wrong class to ask - but does anyone know of a site that explains differenes in how different browsers view html docs? does that ? make sense?
