Astigmatic One Eye Foundry "Button Button Font"

"A utility font for making website buttons" available free for MAC and PC. This is what Jean aka Ghatten used to make the button shapes for all of the graphics in Paint Shop Pro for the class demo site. (She used the "Tahoma, Bold Italic" font for the text, which comes with some versions of Windows.) Designed to be an easy to use template for creating buttons, ball symbols, and basic title buttons with ease. "Pic a template, fill with a texture, cast an effect, and you are good to go," that's how the site describes it."

Banner Generator

"Another place to make a customized banner which is nice because you can select to make a color transparent like for the background so that it will fit in with the background on your own web page. Also good for making buttons because you can add a blank at the end when you finish creating your text. You can choose the image type and for gifs can select to interlace. There are over 100 fonts to choose from. You may use their color words or type in the rgb code for a specific color you want. You will want to play with the advanced Algorithms. Select the "?" mark in the box for online help which will describe the features available such as edge detection, emboss, and blur with examples of each and tips for the order in which you should include them. Cooltext.com: Online Graphics Generator

Almost constantly being revised by its creator in order to make logo/button creation there easier. Currently available with a DHTML interface, you can create text logos and buttons in a selection of effects, colors and styles. Some of the text effects are fairly spectacular such as the a Nova effect and an "X-Files" type of glow. It's a good idea to read his updates page before using Cooltext, since it has been updated and changed twice since this class began. Currently, you can create text logos in a number of sizes and effects, though he has also stated an intention to add other features like bullets and bars.

Instant Online Banner Creator by Creative Connectivity

You can make a simple two lines of text with choice of colors banner here with choice of a plain color background or one of theirs. Set a size and enter a URL where you want the banner to link when someone clicks on it. Plans to offer choice of fonts and layout. You can use this for a banner ad by selecting the required dimensions and submitting it.

VRL's Imaging Machine

Use their online tools to create interesting effects for your graphics. Ghatten modified images here which were nice for a friend's web page. Start with the Users Manual to be sure your browser supports features needed to use their service. The possible selections are described. Identify: Get information about your image. Histogram: See a color histogram of an image. Combine: Merge two images together with a twist. Animate: Create an animated gif file. Filters: Continuously change your image (this is where you can make transparent as one option). Index: Combine your images into one index image. Examples: See what the features do. When you select one, a little more information is given with a place to add the url where the image(s) you want to work with are located on the web. Keep trying as sometimes you cannot get to VRL.

Pixelsight

Pixelsight is an interactive tool for generating custom bitmap graphics. Use the library of clip icons, textures, symbols, fonts, and backgrounds or use your own to modify and customize any image. You will get a few extra months for final beta testing the subscription based service at $49 per year. The Pixelsight Tour shows features and why it may be a solution for those who have not mastered a graphics program like Paint Shop Pro or Photoshop or do not have room for a lot of fonts and icons. It requires a JavaScript enabled browser and will work with Netscape Navigator versions 3.02 and later, Internet Explorer - versions 4.0 and later, and WebTV - versions 1.2 and later.

Anne created the graphical titles for Anne's World: Web Page Resources at the prior free service. There are some significant differences now and it may be difficult for some to get started. She still has not spent enough time there to figure out how to make new titles to match the old. To create text without a button, you first choose an example button with text to edit. Then find the menu for "more" to get the Advanced Editor sidebar on the left which has three little toggle on/off buttons under the Renderer near the top. Toggle the third one on the right to have text without a button. Click on the little numbers at the top where you select colors, choices toggle to enter as percentages 1-100, rgb 1-255 or hex 00-FF. Be sure to enter letters for hex as lower case instead of upper case. There are online help files and a place to ask questions.
