Yes to the oval okay the easiest way to get rid of the oval is this... 1) use the eyedropper tool to set your foreground colour to the exact same red you used for the background in your image you're kidding! cover it up? 2) select the flood fill/filler tool with the tolerance setting to 200 and opacity to 100 now click in the white oval poof gone Neat! How can I align two ovals on the same area? soapy I am not sure I understand, you mean on top of each other? or side by side? side by side or above and below. if i want two the same, like in your lesson soapy the way I find easiest is to make one oval leave it selected now go Edit/Copy which will copy that oval selection and than go I tried that. where am I pasting to? it won't allow it Edit/Paste as NEW selection to the existing image oh. wait. as new selection? oh now the NEW Selection will be selected ok i'll try and come back thanks! k soapy good luck What is a practical use for the clone brush, one more Augustus I find it handy to fix blemishes in photographs If we all log on the the same server are we immune from splits? we will be discussing fixing photos in an upcoming lesson but for now it is really good for that ok Augustus yes immune to splits if everyone is on the exact same server suggest one for us all Augustus the clone tool is also good for special effects ok, I need more expermentation and again we will look at some of those in the more advanced lessons right now just get comfortable with the basics Will you be covering screen capture. I ended up with about 6 different shades of blue. I kept changing the tolerance too. How do you know when to change the shade of color and when to increase the tolerance? My flag didn't turn out too well. quiltermom the french will not be happy about that *wink* anyway, I think that mostly comes with personal preference and what you hope to achieve Mine didn't look anything like yours normally you know what you want to achieve, so you can play with the tolerance and opacity until you get what you want quiltermom maybe I should have put exact tolerences down ok - I just wondered if I was missing something! quiltermom no, I should have given exact specifics I think I will change it for next time around ok quiltermom try again though, if I recall, I did not change the tolerance I only chanced the shade of blue used what is meant by "keeping your eye on the control panel ...... does it come up for each tool you click? atalos, that means that normally when strange things occur, it is because of a setting you made earlier in the control palette for instance.. you may have just finished a piece of art that required you to turn the opacity way down now the next day you decide to create another art and you use the same tool (let's say the flood fill/filler tool) that you had turned the opacity way down on when you go to flood fill your new art the colour is wayyyyyyy off ok....thanks....will work on it if you are not keeping your eye on the control palette you will miss the reason why things are not working right also the control palette changes for almost every tool you pick for instance the brushes have two tabs in the control palette so you have to remember to click the second tab to see those settings while the cropper tool only has one tab and one setting on the control palette am I explaining that okay? What should I change? gran it sounds like you are working... on an image that is less than 16 million colours to change it to a 16 million colour image do this 1) click on Colors 2) select increase color depth 3) choose 16 million colors (24 bit) you will be happy to know that this is a part of lesson two coming out on Wednesday Thanks. some of the tools in psp 5 will only work if your image is 24 bit or higher which normally means 16 million colours and up a .gif file is NOT 24 bit it is 8bit and has 256 colours or less always? always? a .gif file is NOT 24 bit it is 8bit and has 256 colours or less I was in a panic to resort through everything I had done to make it fit in a small 6 week course no easy feat let me tell you! lesson 2 eagel a .gif can go as low as 1 colour Can you see what I am typing? When I draw it cuts off on horizonal line to pre window size How do i overcome this? mort there is a button on the toolbar (at top of screen) it is hard to describe so bare with me it is a white circle type icon with I believe a line through it actually wait I just opened my psp it is a black thin cicle with a black thin line through it like a no smoking sign, only black not red it has a white dot in the middle sort of like someones head when you zoom and image in any direction away from 1:1 ratio that button lights up at 1:1 it is greyed out at 1:2 it is highlighted if you click that button when it is highlighted it automatically brings your open image back to 1:1 normal/real size so there is no need to resize the window manually is this making any sense? or answering your question? * Leapin says if I missed the mark let me know Ok--will try to find it. I've used both and I prefer PSP5...... :^) user support from jasc is 98% better than adobe psp has almost everything that photoshop has and yes leslie a lot of what you learn here can be applied in ps although ps tends to hid its features not so visible you have to hunt a little more both however are excellent for what they do and meet their purposes well again, this is my opinion, many others would agrue for only one or the other I am having trouble with save okay wwwdot what is it doing? It is not doing what I tell it to what do you want it to do? I want to save the button so I can put in on the net so you want to save it as either a .gif or a .jpg every time I save it and try to go back to it, the program says it is not a gif file I call it button1.gif wwwdot, by chance you are not typing in the .gif are you? yes I am okay do this instead 1) with your image open I tried it without typeing as a gif and that didn't work either click on file/save as yes or file/save copy as whichever you want yes 2) now when the save as window opens, look way down the bottom ok you know where you were typing button.gif? yes this time only type button ok now BEFORE hitting OK ok lol 3) just below where you typed button yes there is another slot yes click the black arrow next to that slot ok and a drop down menu appears with tons of different extensions listed in it yes pick the compuserv .gif one
