I Despise The University Of Great Falls

Hi,

Bad news. The University of Great Falls has screwed me over for the third and last time. To give the full list/story:

The first was over my placement scores. The scores were sent to to UGF three times before they could get them entered into my file. This caused me to not be able to register for a third class for the spring semester. The first time we sent the scores in was December 11-14, 1998. The second was early January, 1999 and the third time was the middle of January, 1999.

The second one was the fact that I needed two more things to get my financial aid. UGF was not willing to tell me that I needed transcripts from a college I attended over twenty years earlier and at which I had not received any financial aid. The second item was their financial aid entrance form, that had to be filled out before they would even start a file/packet for me. My MCC site coordinator and I discovered this on February 5, 1999. The Financial Aid Office at UGF assured the site coordinator that it would not take more than four days after I had gotten the awards letter telling me how much financial aid I was going to get; that I would receive the money.

The third one happened today, Friday February 19, 1999. I received the MT Guaranteed Student Loan Application. On which it stated that The loans would be paid out on March 3 and 4, 1999. The UGF Financial Aid Office lied to The MCC site coordinator and knew that there would be a two week delay from the day thay UGF received my acceptance of the financial aid award and sending me the money.

The stupidest part of this is that I have been attending classes since the 14th of January. What hurst me is that I had signed a contract with UGF for my tuition and books. As of February 14, I owe them $600.00+ along with an interest charge that will be taken out of my loans before I get the money. I will be paying their interest because they did not tell me that they needed more info.

I will be finishing this semester with the UGF, but will not be going on further with them. I am looking into doing a degree completion program with either Rocky Mountain College or Montana State Univerity-Billings (MSU-B); the college I had attended twenty some years ago. I was just told that MSU-B charges tuition of $400 per three credit class compared to the $900-1000 charged by UGF and Rocky. Plus the MSU-B classes are done entirely over the internet and can be done in my own home.

This freaking crap caused by UGF has destroyed my plans for my spring break. Spring break for UGF is March 1-5. I was going to be in Rapid City, February 25 through the 26th or 27th and then a couple of days later go to my mother's place for a few days. All of this will have to be rescheduled or cancelled entirely.

In my opinion The University of Great Falls is not to trusted and no one should have to pay $300.00 per credit to be treated this way.

I Hate the University of Great Falls and why I was attending the University of Great Falls (UGF); located in Great Falls MT; in a Distance Learning program called the Telecom program. I would be attending a local site at Miles Community College (MCC); located at Miles City, MT; attending the classes over an internet link. This page is dedicated to the story of why I am totally PO'ed at the UGF. The UGF website is located at http://www.ugf.edu visit the site, but, never, ever attend this place!! The MCC website is located at http://www.mcc.cc.mt.us/ MCC is great community college and the administration is excellent. I fully recommend it to anyone looking to start a college career. Below is the e-mail letter I have sent out to my family and friends telling them the details of this Bulls--t. I plan to send a letter to the UGF explaining exactly why I have chosen not to continue my education with them, AFTER the end of the semester. I will also send a letter to the Editor of "The Great Falls Tribune" telling this story. Whether "The Tribune" will print I don't know.
