The Following story i need to revise so it is

Everybody Dies Sometime

The dripping from the near by faucet taps away at my sanity while I wait for a notification of the events which will provide me with the something to do for the twilight hours. Just then, as if an answer to my prayers, the phone rings. It is Bobby, a guy that always has something going on, and he informs me of a party that is expected to be of good measures. The party is at a friend of his apartment and he tells me its not one of those cheap college apartments, but a quite grand place in a massive building. With this new information I am excited. The parties previous to this have been of the sorts not fit for a common streetwalker. The authorities usually break it up by the time that the amusement is at its highest (which is usually near the end anyway). As to be expected my intentions of having a good time were heightened.

The minutes tick by with my patients decreasing with each tick. Finally my transportation arrives at my dwelling. I come upon the car and as usual, Bobby already has it filled to the capacity and I still have to fit in too. I open the door of the car and a person nearly falls out as if the door was serving as a dam to a heavy river current. I compress my way in somehow and hope for a short ride. I stare out the window that I am so unconformity slammed up against. Trees of unusual size pass by at faster than normal rates. Unusual because of their larger size. You see the trees in my part of the city are a lot smaller because of the young age of its construction, which means we must be headed to an older part of town.

The car eventually stops at our point of destination. The ride seemed forever with my never-ending quest for relief from the position I was placed in. I tumble out of the car and look around at the location. There are those old fashion iron lampposts on the corners of the street that make you reminisce of days of old when they were new. The building itself is quite elevated and box shaped like the rest from its time period. It has a feeling of antiquity about it that makes you want to search every passage in hopes that a secret or two would find its way into your perception. The party is at the top floor and much to my surprise the building has an elevator. The elevator's quality was that you would take care even in pressing the floor button in fear that it may detonate back at you. The button labeled 14 was pressed for it was the largest of the values.

The door to the elevator slide open reveling a hallway laid out straight from the door like a red carpet put out for someone important to walk upon then midway a part of it went off to the stairs. The doors to the individual apartments were set parallel to the one across the hall. We walked till we came upon a door with the number 1134 for this is the room where the party is. The door was opened by a person of the party. The following scene is very chaotic. The room seemed misplaced for a building of this age. It is completely updated with what looked like a million people inside. We all separated and attempted to mingle. Most of the group in which I rode with seemed to find someone of interest at this affair, but me on the other hand, was annoyed by all. After much wondering around in search of interest, I decided to venture down outside for some air.

I got to the elevator and pressed the button to summon the car. The screeching of the wheels finally became louder and the door creaked open. I stepped inside of what seemed now immense space and turned my attention to the panel of numbered buttons. Something odd caught my eye. The numbering went from 12 to 14 skipping 13. I didn't ponder of this much, contributing it to the superstitions of the people in that time. I continued on with my journey to the bottom floor and pressed the 1 button. The door reopened with the front entrance in view. Passing through which, I saw other people that had been previously in the party.

The group was quite assorted with its different types of people that all seemed like they didn't want to talk to the other. Much like an angry gathering unwilling to reconcile. Besides me, there were five others, three females and two males. I linger around after failing at my attempts of conversation with the company I kept. All aspects of the weather were calm, for the time being. The wind, which was absent the moment before, is now picking up in velocity. The night sky was filled with stars so profuse, now replaced by hasty gray clouds. The birds that lodged in the trees near at hand were numerous in their count and sound but in a ceasing moment they all stopped chirping at once as if a psychic message was present to them all. The happenings were eerie in their timing. All of this led us to the conclusion that we should invoke on removing ourselves from the outside and into the interior of the building.

The group herded for the inside of the building. We fit ourselves into the elevator and let the doors close. When they reopened, something wasn't quite right but no one could figure exactly what it was. Like something was missing that hadn't even been noticed before. We continued on and stepped out of the elevator with the doors slamming shut behind the last person as if they were making a discouraging gesture towards the reentry of the elevator. There was a short walk to the door of the apartment. The door slowly opened revealing a ghostly sight. The room was completely empty of all its occupants. The only thing that was left was the misarranged furniture and the remains of the people that were there. From curiosity one of the people from the group looked out a window as said that there wasn't a cloud to be seen. By this time we were a mass of confusion.

After a bit of looking around, we came up with a short plan. Two of the group would go back down to the bottom floor and report on the status of the outside. The other four would stay upstairs and try to figure out what was going on. The two set off on their mission and we set on investigating the room. After a while of pondering and finding nothing that would reveal a single secret that the building had to tell we started to wonder on the progress of the two. We knew for sure not to send someone to find where they were so we all set off on the new mission.

We walked to the elevator and pressed the button to summon the car of departure. The time came and past for the expected arrival of the antique vessel so we nervously edged towards the stairs. This was not a very ecstatic decision for the obstacle did not seem easy. Never the less we had to get down there.

The door to the stairway was opened revealing a white walled room with half the room filled with stairs going one way and the other half had stairs going the other way. We started the descent that we figured would take us forever. At the tenth floor the door that lead to the apartment section of the building was slowly closing as if someone had passed through it a few moments before it. As far as we knew there wasn't anyone else in the building after our exploration of the top floor. We decided to check it out with curiosity almost killing us and the white walls about to bore us to death.

The door was caught before it closed so it would not lock us out. The floor appeared much as the top floor but almost like it was older. The lighting was dim and the walls appeared as if they were dirtied by age. The occasional cobb web was not uncommon on this floor. All the doors were closed except for a single door near the end of the main hall that seemed foreboding. There was a yellowish light emanating for the door like a set of candles was its light source. Reluctantly the group inched closer to this dark room. We slowly got to the room and the door pulled gently open without contact of a human to reveal a room with ancient walls with wooden boards showing at times and irregularly placed lit candles. In the middle of the room was the fallen body of one of the two that had been sent down to the bottom floor. There was only a single trickle of blood coming from the corner of his mouth. The blood seemed fresh and still dripping.

We now felt it necessary to get out of the room. We filed out of the room but before the last person could escape the door slammed in front of him trapping him. Immediately the door was attempted to be reopened but it was as if it were nailed shut. All that could be heard were his screams for help and then they suddenly ceased. At this point everyone took a step back from the door as a sign of horror.

The hall seems longer in length as we ran to the stairway. The door to the stairs is flung open as we make our descent once again. The three of us didn't stop running till we got to the last floor where we rested for whatever might come next. There was one more length of stairs that had no light at all and was assumed to lead to the basement. We decided not to venture into the basement just yet in hopes that the other one that was sent down here was still alive and had some answers.

The door to the first floor did not open easy. The hinges seemed to be rusted and not wanting to function at all. It was finally pried open revealing a floor that seemed that it shouldn't even be able to support the rest of its floors. The only light was that whatever remained from the outside and the occasional flash of lightning that wasn't followed by thunder. To the left was the double glass door entryway. It looked like whatever happened to the building happened to the rest of the town also. To the right to a ways there was the elevator with its doors erratically opened. We run over to the doors and looked in through the small opening. The last of the two sent was lying between the bent metal that was now the elevator. She appeared to be dead and then she lifted up her head to look our way. She had no expression as her life faded away and her head laid to rest on the closest piece of metal.

It was now our responsibly to find out a way to save possibly the earth or just die with the rest of it. We weren't just about to find a nice place to wait out the rest of life; we were going to fight this to the end whatever it was. We had put together that the building was aging with the top floor being the youngest and the bottom floor being the oldest. We decided to explore the first floor more in hopes it would display even the smallest clue. We learned our lesson and did not split up this time after seeing that the last time we had sent the two to their deaths.

First off there was the front office. It was a single room with a wooden desk still cluttered with work. On the very top of the mess was a note written in blood that said...

"Why are you running? You are only making your death worse. Why don't you just give up now and put an end to all of this. After all everybody dies sometime."

This came only as an encouragement to us to continue on. We exited the office and headed towards the hall of apartments. The hallway was somehow lit enough to see. There was now a mysterious sound coming from the other end of the hall and it was approaching us at a slow pace. We didn't really have a desire to find out what it was so we went into the closest door.

Once again the room was very aged and all that was in here was a grand chair angled with the back facing us. We all took a couple of steps to the right just enough to see the inhabitants of the chair. It was a being of only bones and it was grasping a newspaper. It was dated a week ahead of today's date. The headline read, "Riots continues on, tearing nations around the world apart". One of the others in our small group went a little closer to see if she could read the article. Suddenly out of no where the being's hand shot up towards her neck, strangling her till she fell on the floor. As soon as she hit the floor the being's head slide slowly till it was looking at us. We took the hint and started running. We slammed the door behind us hoping it wouldn't follow.

The sound that had drove us into the room had vanished. We continued down the hall in desperate need of something more real than what was going on but deep inside we knew we probably wouldn't find such a thing. Nether of us really wanted to find out what lurked in the next room but it was either find it or let it find us. We still had no clue of the nature of the thing stalking us. All we knew was it was more than a mere mortal.

We started down the hall again and one of the doors creaked open a little bit. We had tired of going where it wanted us to go so we went to the room across from the opened door. The room was of the same age as the others and contained a slim vertical mirror about the size of an average human. We did a quick glance of the room and nothing else could be gathered from the moment. We focused our attention back on the mirror. The reflection in the mirror was of us and the door to the room. The door in the mirror started to slowly open but the door behind us remained closed. The door in the mirror continued to open until it got to a certain point and stopped. A pale sickly hand reached around and grasped onto the door. A figure then slide sideways through the door. His face was dead appearing yet still had character to it unlike blank stares of zombies. He was cloaked in black that seemed thin and aged. He looked familiar yet I had never encountered him in life before. Then it hits me; this is the dark figure that had been haunting my dreams at night. When we saw the entity we both turned around to see if it was behind us but there was still nothing there. We took a step backwards thinking that it could still be there. I looked over to my last remaining companion and her head had been bent back leaving her neck exposed as a red line went horizontally across her neck as if being cut by an invisible knife. The red line then bleeds as she falls to the ground. On that note I made my exit.

I now am forced to make the decision to go down to the basement for that is the only choice left to me now. I finally get to the door to the stairway after what seems like an extensive distance. I start the dark decent going only by feel, this part of the stairs is completely absent of all light. It takes forever but the last step is reached and I am now facing a door that feels of metal plates. Its weight is quite massive but is eventually pushed open to reveal a dirt floor with a single light bulb suspended from the ceiling as the light source. I look around. It seems that the basement is just one big room with the walls not seen for the light fades out before then. I feel my heart rate increase as I stand in the middle of the spot light effect produced by the light bulb. The air is stale as if it hadn't been renewed in years. I now wonder what fate had this being had in store for me.

I now see a greenish haze drifting in my direction. As it gets closer I notice that the entity that had been encountered just a short time ago was in the haze. The green haze faded as it got further into the light. It stopped when it got within conversational distance.

It starts to speak, his voice seeming overpowering somehow. "You can run no more for there is no where else to run. Look left. Look right. What you see is all that is left. You are the last mortal alive on this pitiful place. This world of yours was quite easy to destroy. I just planted a few seeds of mistrust and the whole place fell in on itself. What's next for you? Well I'm glad you asked because I'm going to tell you. You see all in which you see or seem is nothing but a dream. You will awaken only to live out this dream but you will be able to do nothing because you will retain nothing of this dream. On this I will leave you." At its last word it reached up to the suspended light and hit in such a way that it started to swing back and forth, on every swing it would lessen in brightness until it was completely out.

I awoke to the sound of dripping water and realized I had no plans for the night. I wonder what Bobby is doing. He always has something going on.
