When I read this in the Sunday Times Magazine I was quite surprised. (For those who don't know - The Sunday Times is a respected British Paper.) David Duchovny (Referred to as DD from now on, on this page,) Will not be renewing his X-Files contract in the year 2000, unless "they stick a gun to his Mother's head". He said he'd like to be off the T.V. show but he's committed to do two more years. After that an X-Files movie every few years would nicely 'feather his pension nest'. His reason for not continuing the show was: "I'VE MADE IT. I'VE MADE PLENTY OF MONEY." He also added: "I'VE ATTAINED CULTURAL ICON STATUS, IF THAT WAS SOMETHING I EVER WANTED - N0 - BUT I CAN PUT IT ON MY CV IF I EVER GO FOR A JOB AT BURGER KING." I know that DD is an actor and it is a job for money, but I guess I expected more from him than how much money he's made but that's life I guess. In general DD hasn't liked the way the X-Files has progressed. He was unhappy about the show being filmed in Vancouver, so they moved it to L.A.
So overall, when DD's contract runs out, so does Mulder, from the X-Files.
