Maxwell Smart is Agent 86 and the new Chief of CONTROL. He is married to Agent 99 and they have twins, a son and daughter, Zachary and Maxine. Max is the original super spy. He is still on the KAOS hit list and KAOS agents still refer to him as the great Maxwell Smart. With age comes wisdom and Max has actually caught the brass ring of knowledge while being Chief. But don't let that underestimate his brain. This is Max we're talking about and he still has momentary brain loses. Trying to live up the memory of "Thaddeus" the Chief, Max does his best to try and make the dearly departed and much loved Chief proud of him. Being Chief has worked out nicely for Max. Always ready to be head honcho anyways, Max knows what to do and when to it in order to stop the evil plots by KAOS. Max still gets to be part of the action, representing Team Smart as the head of the outfit, even though it was Zach's idea to form it. A happily married man for over twenty years, Max is still in love with 99 after all these years. Even though she isn't a spy anymore, Max will try everything to get her involved in a case. He still thinks of her as his partner and can't work with anyone else as well as he works with her. More than once, Max has used 99's position as a Congress member to spring board her into a mission.
