HBR Dual Rudder Outdrive
You have wisely inquired about the HBR Dual Rudder Outdrive, unmistakably the best performing, most versatile outdrive on the market. As you know the advantages of the HBR double rudder outdrive are numerous:
- Reduces drag, weight and expense on your boat by eliminating unnecessary transom hardware, turn fins and trim tabs.
- Improves high speed stability by controlling prop walk generated by your high horsepower engine.
- Eliminates chine walking.
- Superior maneuverability and stability when turning both left and right are achieved by the dual rudders close proximity to the high energy prop wash.
- Your boat will turn left and right with equal authority.
- Both fixed and safety shear rudder blades employ a high aspect ratio double tapered wedge design for maximum control effectiveness with minimum drag and extremely low servo force actuation required.
- Dual slotted strut provides independent adjustment of propeller shaft angle and propeller depth allowing optimum setup for unsurpassed speed and stability. The two pinch bolts ensure that this very critical setting remains unchanged during all operations.
- If one rudder should get kicked back from debris (or a buoy), you can keep racing with slightly reduced steering authority.
- Dual pinch bolts holding the rudder bracket in position and safety shear rudder design ensure that when a rudder is kicked back from debris in the water it can be returned to its previous position quickly and accurately. No need to spend the next several runs readjusting your critical rudder pivot angle.
- Made from high pressure die cast aluminum for superior forged type properties.
HBR Double Rudder Outdrive (2 rudders (safety shear as shown or fixed), 2 pivot blocks, 2 pivot shafts, 1 master bracket, 3 steering arms, 1 strut (with 3/16" sleeve or T-flange bearings, or 1/4" sleeve bearings installed Free $0.00, 1/4" T-flange bearings add $5.00, if you require a metric size we may be able to offer it), 2 backing plates, and stainless steel hardware) All for only $69.75
Centerpull, The HBR outdrive is made even more versatile for your special installation requirements by repositioning the steering control rod through the master bracket instead of above it as pictured. This is accomplished by milling a control rod opening in the master bracket and milling the rudder head to position the control arm in the center of the rudder head. Modifications are $10.00 for fixed rudder or $15.00 for Safety Shear Rudder.
Stand Off Brackets These place the outdrive 2" back from the rear of the boat for transom exit surface drive applications. This locates the propeller in the pressure recovery wave behind the boat for maximum performance. This also improves the already superb steering authority. Includes stainless steel hardware. SOB200 $19.75
Water Pickup Options:
Threaded Water Pickup, Mounts to the master bracket directly behind the propeller for maximum water flow. WPT-CT $4.50 Clamping Water Pickup, Only partially seen in the picture because the rudder blocks the view. This places the water pickup directly in the prop blast or offset left or right for maximum water flow.
Single pickup WPCA $7.50 Dual water pickup WPCA-2 $14.75
Drilled Water Pickups, These are machined directly in the rudder with either a side or bottom pickup. Side water pickup is shown. Add $10.00 for each rudder drilled to the price of the HBR outdrive. This can be in place of or in addition to the clamping or threaded water pickup.
Bilge, Would you like your boat to come back dry after a long run? Then you should get the bilge option $10.00 for each rudder modified. Or rotate the clamping or threaded water pickup around backwards to suck the bilge water out of the boat.
Titanium Tie Rod Steering Kit, Performance steering kit for the HBR double rudder outdrive. Includes everything needed from the servo back. Titanium tie rod allows quick, easy and accurate adjustment of the toe in or out of your rudders. Includes 1 titanium tie rod, 3 marine ball joints, stainless steel hardware, 4-40 control rod, push rod seal, EZ connector and factory tapping the control arms (when accompanying HBR purchase). HBR-TSK $19.75
Prop Shaft Kit, 3/16" or 1/4" diameter hardened steel shaft with flats ground for the set screws, Flex ferrule for 3/16" or 1/4" flex cable, drive dog, and streamlined tail nut. PSF6-6K, PSF6-8K or PSF-8-8K $15.75
Flex Cable 3/16" or 1/4" Diameter with Square on one end or both ends round. Lengths from 15" to 21" Price varies from $6.50 to $13.75
