This page represents the interests of both my wife and myself.  I've been interested in photography ever since my Dad gave me my first Brownie camera to take pictures with on our trips out West.   Janet's interests in arts and crafts cover a wide and varied gamut.  Specializing in soft sculpture doll making, she takes her inspiration from all areas of art and from all of the books she reads, many of which you will find in our "General" section.

	The Nature Photographer's Complete Guide to Professional Field Techniques by John Shaw.  Hands down, this is the best book I have read on the art of photography.  Shaw is one of the world's great nature photographers but better yet, is a master at explaining photography in words anyone can understand.    I finally understood exposure for the first time after reading this book.  If you're serious about photography whether nature or any kind of photography,  this is a great place to start.  Gorgeous photos.  $18.00
	Landscape Photography:Professional Techniques for Shooting Spectacular Scenics by John Shaw.   If you like to travel but are always wondering why your shots never look the way you remember the scene, then here is another excellent book by John Shaw, who will help you from choosing the right equipment to designing a photograph. 	Photomosaics by Robert Silvers, edited by Michael Hawley.  This book will simply amaze you. Two MIT folks get together to combine computer wizardy with millions of bite sized digital photographs to turn out incredible photographs.  Just released in October of '97.   One of their pictures of Princess Di made the cover of the 12/23/97 issue of Time Magazine.  The picture of Abraham Lincoln is made up of thousands of old Civil War photos - you have to see it to believe it!  I just received this for Christmas and can't put it down!  Paperback - 20% off  @ $15.96.
