Barbecued Spareribs

1 TBS butter 1/4 cup chopped onion 1/4 cup chopped celery 1 clove garlic, chopped 1/2 cup water 1/2 cup catsup 1 TBS lemon juice 1 TBS Worcestershire sauce 1 TBS brown sugar 1/2 tsp. dry mustard 1/2 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. black pepper 3 lbs. ribs

Melt butter in a skillet, add celery, onion, and garlic. Cook until golden brown. Add remaining ingredients except ribs. Simmer for 20 minutes. Brown ribs in a large skillet, then add sauce. Cover simmer 1-1 1/2 hours or until ribs are tender.
