Bambusa vulgaris v. aureo-variegata
This Bamboo grows both wild and cultivated throughout Hawaii
low to medium elevations. Perhaps Polynesians introduced this
type which is used for making knives, sticks, poles, canteens,
musical instruments, and tapa patterns. Bamboos are included in
the Grass Family, Gramineae, and are believed to be native
to Asia and Indonesia.
