The Traveller's Tree, found in the Banana family (Musaceae), is a popular ornamental in Hawaii gardens near sea-level. When the tree grows wild in Madagascar, its native home, it apparently orients its axis points East-West, and serves as a great drinking water source, hence its name and value to the itinerant.
