La`au Kanalima Kumamahiku....57th Plant
Maidenhair Fern, `Iwa`iwa
Adiantum capillus-veneris
This is one of the more common native indigenous ferns. It is
located throughout low to mid elevation Hawaii in moist and shady
spots. House plant lovers easily grow Maidenhair fern, just keep
it out of the direct sun and let it sit in a dish of water. Ancient
lore suggests the plant was used as a hair tonic, hence the name.
