A frontside grind is the basic grind that most people learn how to do first. This is the basic trick that leads to all other grinds so it is important for you to learn how to do it right. It is done with the curb or rail between the second and third wheel and then sliding across the surface you are on top of. To learn how to do a frontside, Firs try stalling in the frontside position for as long as you can. Once you can do this for a few seconds and you are comfortable with the way it feels then you can try to grind. Come at the rail or curb at an almost parallel angle with plenty of speed and jump and turn 90 degrees and lock on with your feet about shoulder width apart. Once you have learned how to slide the curb or rail, look and see if you are stepping onto the curb or rail or jumping onto it. If you are jumping on and sliding a good distance, congratulations, you have learned how to do a frontside grind. If you are stepping onto the curb, you are doing a frontside, but you will have a lot harder time doing other grinds and moving up to higher curbs and rails, so learn how to jump onto it.
