Part 8 Continued
Downstairs the door slammed shut, but no one seemed to notice. “You’re actually going to have that
thing? Half of it’s DNA is worthless. John doesn’t deserve to have an heir, he’s a piece of trash.”
Jazmine stood up. “Well you know what? I’m not too keen on the idea of this being John’s kid.
But it’s mine too, so I think it deserves a chance.”
There came a voice from the stairs. “Jazmine, you’re pregnant?”
She swirled around to look at Dave and a blonde woman that looked to her vaguely familiar.
“Yeah Dave, I’m pregnant. And you know what else? I’m actually gonna have the kid too.”
“Really? That’s great.” Dave smiled and pushed foreword the stranger. “This is Cindy’s brother’s
sister-in-law Alicia Alexander; Cindy’s brother is married to Alicia’s sister. But anyway... Alicia just
found out that she and her husband can’t have children. So...” Dave nudged Alicia.
“Well, I guess this is sort of sudden for both of us, but would you consider allowing me to adopt
your child? Alan and I live in town, not too far away from here, so if you wanted we’d let you visit. We
just want a child so badly...”
“Oh my God,” Jazmine stumbled foreword and steadied herself on the chair. “You were in my
dream. You wanted to know if it was time...” Alicia stood there, not knowing what to say. Jazmine
quickly snapped back into reality. “Yes, of course, thank you so much.” She went up to Alicia and hugged
her. “Thank you, thank you so much. I finally have a reason to go on carrying this child... my baby’s
gonna have a home.”

Jazmine hopped up onto the examining table and started kicking her legs impatiently in the
empty space below her. “How long does it take to decide whether or not I’m healthy?”
Isaac stood next to her and sighed. “Jazmine, however long it takes, it’s worth it. If your healthy
enough you’ll be able to go along this summer, you know Mom would love that. I’m sure she’d get pretty
ill of all that testosterone.”
Jazmine laughed. “Yeah, so why not just hit her with overflowing estrogen.” They both smiled,
and at that point Dr. Wright came in. “Dr. Wright, I’m ok, aren’t I?”
“Yes Jazmine, you’re in perfect health....” Jazmine interrupted.
“So I can go on tour with them.”
“Jazmine, you’re in perfect health, but I’d advise against going on tour with them. I wouldn’t
want to risk anything.”
“Risk anything? How can I risk anything if I’m in perfect health? When’s the baby due?”
“Well, if you go by the standard 9 months, anywhere between November 16 and November 20.”
Isaac grinned over at Jazmine. “Then what’s the problem? We’ll be back by then, long before
then. And I’m sure mom would be glad to help her out, I mean it’s not like she doesn’t know what she’s
going through.”
Dr. Wright sighed. “Yes, that’s true, but you have to understand. Teen pregnancies are more
prone to miscarriages, and that’s under normal circumstances. This conception involved rape, and add to
that there were controlled substances that were present. Even as healthy as you are, Jazmine, I don’t want
to risk anything. Under these issues, the child might be born anytime between August and September. I
want you here.”
“But... but... there are going to be hospitals in every major city we go to. I’ll be fine.”
“Jazmine, I want you here. And plus, whatever happened to summer school?”
Jazmine sighed. “Don’t bring it up. But I guess I’ll just have to grin and bear it, huh?” Dr.
Wright smiled and nodded. “Wonderful. Thanks anyway, Dr. Wright.”

The weeks passed and summer school began. Jazmine tried to avoid John along with his new
girlfriend as much as possible. It’s nothing like an evil glare to get the day started. Michelle and Jane
decided that Jazmine needed to get out of the house; she’d been sulking every day since they all went on
tour. It was a grand success.
Jazmine laughed as she went in the door. “God, I never thought I’d get up and sing one of their
songs... in front of people!”
“Well Jazmine, that just goes to show, when he calls next you’ve gotta ask to be a backup singer.
Hell, kick Taylor out, sing his part.”
“Oh yeah, I’m sure those thousands of screaming girls would be just as thrilled with me as they
are with Taylor!” Jazmine turned to see a message blinking on the machine. “Would one of you loves get
that to ease a poor pregnant girls curiosity?”
Jane pressed the play button and began to walk away. An indiscript malevoice came into the air. “This is a message for Jazmine. The child you’re carrying has been a burden on
those who would be most crucial to it’s upbringing. That child won’t be born, we’re making sure of it.”
