(revised 12/11/98, after watching the final release version) Also directed by Oshii Mamoru. The art is realistic (sweat dropping), and the sound effects are just amazing (noodle slurping couldn't sound so real). Some humor is weaved into this dark and strange story. Give it a try -- you'll get sucked into the detective's monologue. This title is a solo-effort of Daniel "Moroboshi"-kun of Team Abcb (he would have translated and edited it himself, if he could). You MUST see it just for the timing efforts put in by Daniel, especially the timing of the "typewriter" effect. Genre: mystery; surreal (updated 12/11/98, after watching the final version) The images are dark, and very few colors are used. Very strange images, like flying fish (although that's not so strange after watching Twilight Q2). Character design by Amano Yoshitaka, the same artist who did the chara-design and art for Final Fantasy VI (or III in the US). Oh, he has an illustration book with his images of The Tale of Genji. Directed by Oshii Mamoru. Even if you have trouble figuring out his films, the images are amazing. Plus it has very little dialogue, so if you've only taken Japanese 1, you'll understand the phrases. Genre: fantasy Extra stuff: "That's Cunning!" live-action movie teaser (15 mins); "Hana Yori Dango" live-action movie preview (5 mins)
