Tigers

                                                                                           Below are some pictures of my favorite animal, the Tiger.

                                                                                  Some interesting facts:

•                                                         - There are fewer than 300 Siberian tigers in the world
•  
•                                                         -  Tigers can sleep almost 16 hours a day
•  
•                                                                - The lifespan of a tiger rarely exceeds 15 years in the wild,
•                                                            but in captivity, it can exceed 20 years.
•                                                       
•                                                        - The top speed of a tiger can reach 35 mph. ( 55 kmh)

                                                                                            - In 1900 there were an estimated 100,000 wild tigers

                                                               - Now, about 6000 exsist in the wild.

                                                                 - There are twice as many tigers in captivity (5000 in US)

                                                                    The remaining subspecies are:
                                                                  Bengal tiger (Panthera tigris tigris)
                                                           Indochinese tiger (Panthera tigris corbetti)
                                                          Chinese tiger (Panthera tigris amoyensis)
                                                             Siberian tiger (Panthera tigris altaica)
                                                          Sumatran tiger (Panthera tigris sumatrae)

                                                                 - Tigers are endangered because:

                                                                       1) Loss of habitat

                                                                       2) Hunting for fur, bones and other body parts.
