Berlin Airlift
Rhein/Main Air Force Base,
Frankfurt, Germany-
Getting tons to Berlin has also brought the Navy and Air Force together with the advent of two Navy squadrons at Rhein/Main
Air Force Base. In their spare time sailors and airmen enjoy themselves in the Prop and
Anchor Club as Special Service Hostess Dorthy H. Clemens,
aided and abetted by Pfc.
Williams C. Hanlon, a
mechanic with the 331st
Troop Carrier Squadron,
plays for hostess
Trudy Mann and Lester
Gudger, an aviation
machinist mate.

Line messes are located on
both the north and south taxi strips at Rhein/Main Air
Force Base so that pilots,
engineers and maintenance
personnel of the Berlin
Airlift can have
their meals with a minimum loss of time from their
jobs. Peculiar to Rhein/Main is the combination
of Navy and Air Force
eating together and
sharing recreational
facilities.
