The Tube

For the diagonal holder and finder scope holder of my scope, and that is all the tube or truss assembly is if you think about it, I decided to go the concrete pour tube route. At 14 inches, the tube is not so awkward to handle, and the collimation of the finished scope should be somewhat easier, since the entire assembly doesn't have to be re-made every time it is set up.

The interior of the tube is painted flat black. I have decided against adding baffles at this time. I do plan on adding some removable baffles in the future so I can compare the two conditions against each other.

Some people have added walnut shells or other items to their paint to "roughen" up the surface and provide better baffling. My only observation on this is if a person goes to the trouble to make or purchase a fine, smooth mirror and wants to keep it fine and smooth, they might think twice about hanging abrasives directly above the darn thing! Why someone would do this is baffling to me.
