"This looks good, Park," said Joe Miller, her employer. "This is definitely a win-win contract."

"What do you mean?" Parker asked him. She was sitting at the breakfast bar in their huge kitchen.

"Well, if he does a good job, not only will you get lots of playing opportunities, but you will also get good exposure to record companies. If he isn't good, you can fire him with no other obligation. I would definitely wait and see if he can get you gigs, but it sounds like a fantastic idea. When you do get offers from reocrd companies, I would like to be the one to read over the contracts for you. Notice I said, 'when'."

"Of course, Joe, I wouldn't have it any other way," Parker assured him.

"Great! Let us know what you do about signing with him."

"I definitely will."

"By the way, I am leaving this evening for a business trip in Hawaii and Michelle has decided to go."

"That means you'll need me to watch the kids, right?" Parker guessed. She was a little upset at the prospect of not being able to record this weekend, but she always had fun with the kids.

"Actually, no," Joe answered her. "Michelle and I have decided to take them with us."

"All 6??"

"Yep, Staci is 11 now and helps a lot with the younger ones, so we should be fine. Plus, we know you could use the studio time. Considere this an extra paid vacation, but you'd better use it to record, or I won't pay you for the week."

"Yes, sir," Parker said, saluting him.

Joe just laughed. "Michelle should be home soon. She went on a short shopping spree. you can still go at 11 like we promised." He started to walk out the door, stopped and turned around. "The children have started on their school work. In about 15 minutes have them switch to social studies. They lesson is on the counter. The rest of the lessons are in on our bed. Gook luck and let us know what happens."

"O.K., bye, and if I don't see you before you leave, have a great time in Hawaii," Parker called after him. After talking to Joe, she knew just what she wanted to do.

She walked into the dining room where all of the Miller kids were working. Staci, 11, and Joe Jr, 8, were working on writing and math. Stephani, 6 was tracing leters in a work book. Joshua, 3, was coloring in a coloring book and Teagan, 15 months, was in her playpen. Staci told Parker that Matthew, the newborn was with Michelle. Parker was glad aobut that. It was hard keeping up with babies and teaching the older children at the same time.

Michelle walked in the house at about 10:30, went to change her clothes, and then told Parker that she could leave. As she was walking out the door, she told Michelle to have fun in Hawaii and she said goodbye to the kids.

Parker decided to stop by the studio on her way home to tell Pete about being able to record this week. She parked her car in the parking lot, walked up the walkway, and into the building. "Hello," Parker said to Rose.

Rose pointed in the direction of Pete's office. Parker headed that way and reached the office just as Pete was hanging up the phone. "Oh, my goodness, Parker, I didn't expect to see you today! You'll never guess who that was."

"Who?" Parker wanted to know.

"I got you a gig playing at Mayfest!"

"You have got to be kidding!!" Parker sat down. She couldn't believe her ears.

"Not in the slightest. You will be playing at 3:00 pm, Saturday, May 11th. It isn't the mainstage, but it's a start.

"Who will the mainstage artist be?" Parker inquired.

"I don't know for sure. The guy wouldn't tell me. My guess is they don't have it solidified yet. I have heard rumors that it will be Admiral Twin and then Hanson, but I'm sure those are just rumors. We need to begin keeping track of places you have played, so I can let people know what kind of experience you have. What do you think of all this?"

"I think you've got yourself someone to manage," Parker said with a huge grin on her face.

"Now, you've got about 4 weeks and we've got lots to do. I thought it would be good for that to be our starting off point. You know you can use the practice room here any time."

All Parker could do, was nod. She was too shocked to speak. "We need to think about whether or not you want to use dancers. We can have Jordan take over on keyboards during a song or two, so you can leave the keys and dance. If you want dancers, Jordan has 2 younger brothers and a younger sister who would love to help. They have been dancing for years."

Parker just nodded at him.

"Well, once you get over the shock, we'll talk. Just let me know," he laughed softly at her.

Parker pulled the contract out of the folder she was carrying it in, signed it and laid it on his desk. "Let's talk dancers."

"Great! Rose, will you call Jordan and ask him to come down here. I think he's in studio 4."

"Sure thing, Pete."

Pretty soon Jordan walked into the room. "You wanted to see me."

"Yeah, I got Parker a gig at Mayfest and we were talking about adding dancers. Do you think your brothers and sister would be willing to help out?" Pete asked hopefully.

"I'm sure they'd love to. I'll call them and ask," he hurridly left the room to make the call.

"Susan's sister, my other cousin Jennifer, is a dancer also. I'll talk to her and see if she would like to help me. I'm sure she would. This is going to be awesome!"

Pete and Parker continued talking and several minutes later Jordan hurried back into the room. "All three of them said that they would love to help out. They even said that they would help with choreography, if you need it."

"That would be great!" Parker exclaimed growing more excited by the minute. This is what she had dreamed about for as long as she oculd remember.

Pete looked at Parker. "Well, girlfriend, we've got a lot of work to do."

"Yep, and I can't wait!" Parker answered with incredible enthusiasm.
