Welcome to the Abel Page!
"He's beautiful..."
Abel came to us as the shyest dog we had ever seen. He could do nothing
but huddle in the corner of a crate and pant for the first two weeks we
had him. Slowly we gained his trust - and I mean slowly - to the
point where he would come out of his crate when asked. It was alot
of work at times; we had to walk him on a leash in the fenced yard to ensure
we could get him back into the house. It's not easy to catch a greyhound
if he doesn't want you to! We determined that part of his behavior
was medically related to a hypothyroid condition he had. He is now
on medication for the problem and we think it's really starting to help.
We recently also started an antianxiety medication called amitryptilin
to help him deal with the many scary things you run across in human civilization.
He really just needs a quiet home to go to with no major changes for the
rest of his life. I hope you enjoy the pictures, and if you think
you might be the perfect home for Abel, please email us at greyhnds@swbell.net.
